HELP! — Legal Word Processor

Luminus

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
I'm going to take a test tomorrow for this job, but I can't figure out how to do these things.

1) Cascading Text
2) Red Herring
3) TOA that shows multiple page numbers for one citation.

I think I figured out the Red Herring. I used a form box and put it in the left side of the Header, stretching down along the text.

Cascading text should look like this:

*******
*****
**

I can't find anything online about it. I did the TOA, but it doesn't show multiple page numbers.

FYI, I just got laid off from my desktop publishing job at a bank three weeks ago. Can anyone out there help? Thanks!

The most easy way is simply to center your text and insert line breaks as needed to get the inverted pyramid you want.

For variable text, you can insert a triangular AutoShape on one or both sides of the text to constrain it. You can set the constrain options in the properties of the shapes (behind text, in front of text, constrain text etc).

Great, multiple choice.:( Thanks for the input!!!:techman: I hope I choose the method they want.

I passed the evaluation! Now, I have to take a 5 hour test at the actual company.:(

Anyway, I made the right choice. Using the Autoshape feature was what they wanted, but not a triangle. They wanted a wedge. Using the manual line breaks would have been marked incorrect. Whew!

Thanks for the help!:techman:

Good luck! I'm sorry I couldn't help at all, but I hope things continue to go well. :)

Took the test yesterday. It wasn't that hard, but it was unreasonable. The test is NOTHING like doing the actual job. Basically, they gave us some documents and told us to recreate everything to the best of our ability. In the real world, there are standards to follow as well as specific instructions to follow. This kind of testing leaves you open to comments like, "Well, you made the font 11 pt., but it was really 10.5. You guessed incorrectly." They wouldn't even let us print.

In any case, I haven't gotten my results yet and the suspense is killing me. Today, I was forced to go down to the unemployment office for a mandatory interview or meeting or whatever it is. Basically, I filled out some info, collected info, gave my resume and then left. I decided to walk home and found a Dunkin' Donuts. They were selling Coolattas and I wanted to try one. News flash: It wasn't worth it. It's just juice with a lot of ice.
