Hell's Kitchen Returns

Did Ramsay refer to Louross as "toilet brush" or did I mishear him?

nope you heard right lol
Did he say a 'walking' toilet brush? :rommie:

I know I ask a lot of dumb questions, but why was that one guy outside (picking his feet???) at the beginning of service?? Gordon's good, but my old Chief Mess Specialist would have reduced that guy to cry-baby powder if he ever saw that!

I just ate at Gordon Ramsey's resturant at the London. I have to tell you, I was really disappointed. The food was good and the service was good but thats about it, good. I was really expecting much, much better.

While I love Hell's Kitchen because of his treatment of the so called 'chefs' can't they get better people? I love Top Chef but even the worst person on Top Chef is a million times better then the best person on Hell Kitchen.

You know, maybe it's just because I've an ounce of skill, but risotto isn't all that hard to make. What his butt who was team leader just sucked, "You guys have it under control here," the hell they do! They were all over the place. He should've jumped in there helped feet-picking guy make the risottos, if not just made them period or put someone else on the station.

I usually enjoy this show (though, not as much as the UK's Kitchen Nightmares), but I have to admit that nothing in this show convinces me that these people deserve to be gourmet chefs. Top Chef, on the other hand, does that in spades.

I am so sick of hearing about risotto on this show. Before I watched it a couple of years ago I had never even heard of the stuff.

I think for now they are showcasing the slackers and goofballs because they'll soon be gone, and later on they will focus on the "good" people. You will notice that in the first challenge there were several people's dishes they skipped over, only mentioning that they were "mediocre." It's these people that will probably go on to the end and get their moment in the spotlight then.

The thing is, risotto is *easy* to make.

I mean, in essence, you're just cooking rice! It's really not all that hard!

We're having somewhat of a Ramsay Renaissance over here, the 9 Network which is showing it is basically surviving in the ratings because of Ramsay. It's on twice a week, once is the USA version and once is the UK version. We're getting Hells Kitchen soon as well.

Thing is the show is just so contrived or at least it seems that way to me. It basically follows a formula, it's almost the same each week. Lets see...

Gordon arrives and eats food, says it's shit.
Most of the time he tells them they're a bunch of f-wits.
Then sometimes he'll do some makeovery type stuff like new tables, painting, signs, kitchen stuff, etc etc., everyone is excited by the changes.
Then it comes time for the big "re-launch". Things look precarious for a while, and someone (the chef, the manager, the head greeter, whatever) tells Gordon to fuck off and walks out.
Invariably that person ends up come back and everything is peachy, and all of sudden magically the disaster is averted and the "re-launch" is an unqualified success.
End of show.

Oh, and sometimes you get a small postscript saying "Despite all of Gordon's hard work the restaurant closed six weeks later". Those are my total favourites.

Sucks to be a restaurant owner.

You left out: Stubborn, crone-ish owner goes gaga over Gordon while refusing to take his advice. And - Gordon tours the walk-in with hilarious yet life threatening results  :wtf:

And the contentious kitchen staff are won over after an afternoon playing sports/fishing/swimming/whatever together.

Gordon packs the normally empty house by handing out pamphlets/samples on the street or holding a contest with the locals/competition.

(may be mainly in the UK eps)

Has he ever tasted the food and said "that's not too bad, actually"? I guess that's not what we came to see though. "Look at it! This is RAAAW." "The crust is soggy, the edges are burnt, flavorless, outdated, bland...."

Finally got to watch it last night. Do they test these people to see if they can cook?

They all look like losers who can't cook. They did not get one entree out last night in 3 hours??? WTF

^ That is interesting. I found it enlightening that not only is the "journalist" not a food critic but is also perfectly willing to go with the charade acting the role they laid out. I expect that the producers would try to ellicit(sp?) certain responses but it's funny to see the other party so eager to perform. I liked the review as well, "I ordered Jaegermeister on the rocks".

Reminder. HK is on tonight at 9/8 Central on Fox.

Viewer discresion is advised... you [bleeping] DONKEYS!
