Hello and Question about the Forum

Hi, all!

This is my first post here, since I just found out about this BBS at a Star Trek convention a couple of days ago. I have been a Trek fan since the 1970's, when I first saw the show in re-runs on WPIX-TV out of New York. My older brother, on the other hand, was a fan when the show was first-run on TV. In fact, it was probably him turning on the TV at dinnertime that introduced me to Star Trek in the first place!

I am primarily a fan of TOS, though I have also watched TNG pretty regularly. I am also a big fan of the movies, even if the quality is kind of uneven with them. And, yeah, I'm a Kirk guy, though I think Picard is certainly a captain I could serve under.

My question about the forum is this: Is there a "classifieds" section? I have some old Lincoln Enterprises memorabilia that I'm interested in selling, but I really don't know the best place or way to do it. I don't want to step on any toes by listing it in the wrong place.

When I was at the Star Trek convention (mentioned above), I met Richard Arnold, who appraised the things for me, but warned against selling on eBay or at one of the smaller conventions. He said to bring the package to Las Vegas for the big convention next year, but finances and circumstances make the possibility of that happening HIGHLY unlikely.

Suggestions or recommendations? Any help would be greatly appreciated! And, I look forward to particpating in the forums here -- It looks like a really fun place!

Welcome, Hayata. I hope you enjoy the forums.

I'm sorry I don't have an answer to your question, I'm kind of a newbie here too. But I have yet to see a "Classifieds" section.

Live long and prosper. :vulcan:

Hi Hayata,

Welcome to the board -- it is a fun place.

I'm sure one of the moderators will chime in soon concerning board policy, but I believe soliciting is not allowed (check out the FAQ section).

I'm curious as to why Richard Arnold warned you away from e-bay. Could you comment on that? I've purchased a lot of stuff on e-bay and have had few problems.

BTW, pm me concerning your Lincoln stuff. I might be able to help.

Best!

Although you're not allowed to sell stuff here, or start threads pimping eBay auctions, you can put a link to and a tiny bit of info about an eBay (or whatever) auction/sale in your sig (the bit of text you can set up that appears at the bottom of each post) so that everywhere you post on TBBS, people will see it.

You can? Wouldn't that fall under soliciting, too?

Thanks for the answers so far! I really appreciate it!

Mr. Arnold warned me off eBay, because he said that I'd realize a much (as in "significantly") better price for my items at the Vegas convention. Now, while this may be true, it's also true that it'll cost me far more than my items are worth, just to attend the convention!
