Helen Noel 42nd Anniversary (+ 1 week) Thread!

Jeri Ryan's previous husband was Senator Ryan, who had to vacate his seat because of a sex scandal during their divoce. Jeri Ryan, of course, was divorcing him because SHE was cheating on him with the producer of Voyager.

The appointee of the senate seat? Barack Obama.

(Before I get hammered on this one, Obama was very briefly an appointee - the Republicans had a rediculously bad run-off race and the seat was largely just handed to him.. but, yes, Star Trek Voyager more or less gave us President Obama.)

Jack Ryan was the Republican nominee for the Senate seat to replace Sen. Peter Fitzgerald (R-Ill), who chose not to run for re-election.

Barack Obama was the Democratic nominee for the Senate seat.

Ryan never held office. He withdrew from the race when the Chicago Tribune and a local news station sued to have the custody records unsealed, and a California judge complied. Ryan had promised the state Republican party that there was nothing unseemly in the records. He lied. In an interview on Nightline, he said that the worst those records showed was that he was an "insensitive husband."

The Republicans tried to find someone to replace him in the race. They finally settled on Allan Keyes.

Obama beat him handily.

Obama was never appointed to the Senate and Ryan never held the seat.

Ryan divorced her husband because he like to take Jeri to sex clubs and watch her having sex with random guys that he would select for her. She got tired of it. That's from many of her interviews.

Lucky bunch of random guys!!

What are you talking about? I know that Grace did some prostitution after she left the show. What are you referring to when you said the women were being forced into sexual service?

The women of Star Trek either put out on the casting couch or they didn't get or keep their jobs. It was a huge scandal, and one of the big reasons (if not the biggest) reason that NBC wanted to close it down. (Numerous sources on this one, even Majel's book alludes to this.)

But.. not exactly themely for the thread, and I'm sorry about that.

I wonder if DC Fontana had to put out. She was kinda cute back then.
