Heavy Rain Demo on PSN

Servo

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
The much anticipated demo for Heavy Rain is now available on PSN (at least, it is where I am in Europe).

I downloaded it, but didn't get a chance to play it. I loaded it up, but there was no sound on the demo, and then I had to go out.
Someone on another board told me you need to turn off DTS in your sound settings. I've not had a chance to try that yet, but I'll be giving it a go when I get back home.

So anyone else played it? What are your impressions of the demo?

I haven't tried out the demo yet but I'm somewhat curious about the game. I'm not sure if I'm going to be picking it up any time soon though since I'm not exactly in the mood for that particular genre right now

I've had it pre-ordered since the end of December but called Ammy today and canceled it.
The more I've read about it the less interested I became in it.

Played it last week - it's fairly short but gives a good taste. The demo defaults to hard though, which might be off putting. On easy it worked well for me, since I hate QTEs but I'm really interested in what QD is trying to do with gameplay and storytelling.

I also played the demo last week and I absolutely loved it. I can't wait to get my copy of the Special Edition which I've had pre-ordered for quite a while now.

I might try the demo, I've been interested in this for a while but wondered what sortof gameplay we're actually gonna get. Most of the promo stuff I've seen has been so busy hyping up the graphics and story that I'm still unsure what genre it is, my gut tells my it will be another Fahrenheit which I'm not so interested in.

I played the demo last week and I can say that if you didn't enjoy Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy you won't like Heavy Rain any better. Different stories but same method of relating those stories.

As long as the story doesn't go off the rails into crazy-stupid town in the third act like Indigo, I'll probably like it just fine.

Yeah, that was the only aspect of Fahrenheit that threw me. From what I've read Heavy Rain has a more satisfying narrative and follows in the vein of movies like Seven, Zodiac and Silence of the Lambs (which to me is AWESOME). As a fan of Fahrenheit/Indigo I don't see there being any possibility that I won't love Heavy Rain.

Played it and really liked it, especially Scott Shelby's scene. This and God of War III can't come soon enough.

Kibbin, as far as the genre goes, it's an adventure game.

Was reading about this game today. Looks like it'll be real good, I'll have to see about getting the demo off PSN.

I'll say, the demo does a good job of letting you intuit what you are doing when you do it. Although, that might be easy mode as well.

I tried the demo, and couldn't get past the control scheme. Never really got into it at all because I hated the controls so much. Wasn't really on my radar screen anyway, and it might be a good game otherwise, but I pretty much will pass on any game with tedious controls.

I enjoyed it. I thought the fight was better than your standard QTE borefest, and the game overall has a great feel to it. I really like the controls, and thought they felt pretty natural. Seems like the story is going to suck me in too. After just playing the Sleazy Place section, I already wanted to know more storywise.

Will definitely be buying it.

The game's out... still not sure quite what I think about it... although I had the idea of a tutorial mission taking place in a crowded mall looking for a lost kid. Damn.

I'm still playing on easy, because otherwise I might get a heart attack. :p

The demo was cool but I can see the constant attempts at trying to match the onscreen control prompts to get really tedious. The graphics and music were great though!

RT.
