So, did anyone here watch 'Hamlet'?

It's sitting on my hd waiting for 3 free hours. I dipped in and out. My main comment was that Patrick was much sharper dressed on stage. I'm looking forward to giving it my full attention. It looked very good, very faithful to the stage production in terms of visuals.

Actually I do find a few women unfunny, like Lucy Porter, so it's not political correctness, I just disagree that ALL women aren't funny. As for the emotion, it summed up my reaction to the closed mindedness you clearly have.

I thought it was just a filmed stage performance. Have they done something else to make it more cinematic or something?

I think it's a specially made production, not just filmed off the stage. But I haven't watched it yet.

Noone seems really to be able to describe what it is. This link should give you an impression of what's been done:

Generally speaking they have taken the stage production and put it on location.

What period are they going for in terms of sets & clothing?

It's that quasi-modern day kind of production that the RSC have done a fair bit of lately. There are some period-type costumes - Gertrude has some long dresses; the guards and Old Hamlet are in period armour - and some modern day dress: Claudius wears morning suits, Hamlet is in tee shirt and Parka.

Amusingly on the radio this morning the presenter joked that Ant and Dec's christmas special was the only TV show over Christmas not to feature David Tennant

And women aren't funny? I'm guessing they probably shouldn't be able to drive/vote/speak also?

Some women aren't funny, in the same way some men are. I've never thought French and Saunders are especially funny but Victoria Wood is a genius.

Tate is at least as funny as Walliams and bloody Lucas are, ie scattergun humour--sometimes funny, sometimes not. I love her refuge for redheads a few years back.

I thought it was funny that Matt Horne apollogised for being over exposed this Christmas with being in Gavin & Stacey and Catherine Tate, he said even he was bored of him. I thought if he's over exposed what's David Tennant?

QI, Buzzcocks, Hamlet, Catherine Tate Show, Doctor Who twice (or even 5 times if you count animated and SJA), Radio show, and he's even on at the cinema.

Catherine Tate is a comedy goddess. Her Lauren Cooper sketch with DT alone assures her a place in the pantheon of great comedians.

VW is also a comedy goddess, indeed. Whether it's her madcap songs, her Acorn Antiques or even Dinnerladies, she's bloody funny.
