News He-Man anime series from Kevin Smith coming to Netflix

Revelations, Part II has a release date:

Adam seemingly doesn't need the sword to become He-Man

"Savage He-Man"? Ugh. That sounds like trying way too hard to be edgy and dark. (What do they call it? "Edgelord?")

Smith talked about Savage He-Man on the latest Fatman Beyond, and, well, it's another nod to the original toy-line, specifically He-Man's origin from the early mini-comics, when he was still more of your standard barbarian hero:

This isn't even supposed to be a spoiler thread. :p I have the same problem with Ghostbusters Afterlife and trying to tread lightly. Yet another blow to the half season...

Yeah, a "news" thread takes on a life of it's own when a show finally drops. Maybe the mod should change that part if it can be changed. Beyond that, I generally expect spoilers to pop up pretty much anywhere, so it's a challenge.

Interesting. While unrelated in continuity, that jives with She-Ra somewhat in the revival show.

when She-Ra’s power sword got broken, Adora seemed unable to transform anymore.
Only when Catra’s life was threatened, she called up the honor of gray skull and transformed into an even more powerful incarnation of She-Ra and even conjured a new sword.
This time, her appearance included aspects from her best friends Glimmer, Bow and Catra.
So, the power of She-Ra was within her the whole time.[\SPOILER]

So basically the final arc of every protagonist of every movie where their power seems to come from an external source

Well, fans were really unhappy about "being misled" with the promotion for part I, so this new trailer for part II, well, it gives away a lot:

Why in god's name would they spoil the Savage He-Man reveal in the trailer?

"The sword is just the conduit, but the spark was always me", hot damn. I'll never feel those goosebumps for the first time again.

EDIT: Played it again. Marlena is about to kick some ass!

And also not the first time Adam has transformed without needing to use the sword, since he does it in the episode, "Things that go Bump in the Night."

If the memory serves, he only starts transforming without the sword, but finishes with it.

Oh really??? That's cool. Thank you for referencing that so I can see it. The filmation series seemed to copy and paste the transformations so I assumed it was like that through the series' run. Thank you.

What's the difference between He-Man and Savage He-Man? I know there were toys which depicted variations of the character. I recall my brother had all sorts of action figures; one I recall had a metal chest and by contact the chest would switch to a dent.

Savage He-Man was one of the early, pre-Filmation iterations of the character. Kevin Smith must have thought it'd be a cool nod. Revelations has tons of references to all versions of MOTU, even the unspeakably shitty Dolph Lundgren movie.
