He enjoys the career that he picked!

Anyway, I did have to have 4 pre-molars taken out prior to getting braces as a kid. Teeth were so crammed together that it was the only way to create enough space to get everything neatly lined up. I had them done under a general anaesthetic so they could all be pulled at the same time. Funnily enough I don't remember having much pain after the op, though it took some time for the wounds to full heal up and then a bit longer for the other teeth to move in to fill the gaps.

I had the same thing done for the same reason. I remember coming to in the dentists office and being totally loopy.

Lucky you; no effect from the anaesthetic then. :p

I had mine taken out by a max-fax guy in the local hospital rather than at the dentist's. Actually, I don't think you can get a GA at a dentist's surgery in this country any more (can you still do so in the USA? Not sure about that). Though you certainly could back when I had my 4 teeth removed, so that wasn't the reason. I think it was more because coming from a medical family, they wanted the surgery to take place in a well-supported facility.
