So two fans decided to remake Sonic 1 in 1080p and they just released a demo. Now this is the part where I'm supposed to sell you on the game, but after watching this video you won't need any convincing.

EDIT:

The website seems to be down (not surprising), so I'll link to the Kotaku article instead.

I have 1 & 2 on my 360 HDD but I want that  and a HD makeover for Streets of Rage 1 while your at it.

Ooh...HD Streets of Rage would be sweet!

Actually, I'd love to see a Streets of Rage game made for modern consoles. Maybe something a la Arkham Asylum. :D

I want a HD makeover of the original and a new 2-D game with original levels but based off the gameplay of number 1 (hate 2 and 3) :scream:...

TBH I'd settle for Streets of Rage 1 on the 360, got it on Wii but barely play Wii. 2 player over Live

I've got Streets of Rage 1 on my PS3, but I can't seem to enjoy it as much as I used to when I played it on Sega Genesis. It is surprisingly more difficult than I remember. :vulcan:

You know, I thought that looked more like Sonic 2.

It was almost blindingly hard to tell. I was too wowed by how nifty things look and I've played all three (and a half) so effing often.

Yeah, I thought the same. Emerald Hill Zone is definitely from Sonic 2. Maybe they just didn't feel the need to include Tails. He didn't exactly serve a purpose.

Still, it would be a bit of a shame. But if it's a fan project, there's no sense complaining. It's not like these guys are getting paid. What they're doing is simply marvelous.

That would be lovely, and about as far away from Square-Enix's marketing practice as is conceivable. I think it would show a lot of maturity on Sega's part.

^ Alas, poor Chrono Resurrection. You would have been amazing. Damn you Square.

Anyway, I beat the Sonic demo last night. There's only Emerald Hill Zone and there's no boss unfortunately. If you decide to play the demo don't expect more than 10 minutes of gameplay.

Exactly. D:

Yeah, well fan projects usually come with a lot of hard work because of, well, the lack of a real 'budget'. I'd love to see the game get finished eventually, but it would take a long time, heh.
