HBO's "Westworld", starring Anthony Hopkins/produced by J.J. Abrams

I'm not sure if this was true and Reddit isn't really a reliable source for stuff but I read online there and a few other places that season two the writers were a bit ticked off with online forums for predicting everything so they kept changing things in the show during season 2 to out spoiler the spoiler freaks who kept guessing stuff.

So the writers were agitated by online people. That is not the way to make a good show.

I've also heard this. It's apparently why there was a longer wait than expected between season one and two.

From NME:
"According to Deadline, Nolan also revealed that Reddit users had “already figured out” a major twist for the show’s second season, forcing the writers to change what they had planned.

“Reddit has already figured out the third episode twist,” he said. “So, we’re changing that right now.

“It’s annoying sometimes when people guess the twists and then blog about it, but the engagement is gratifying, on one level, because if someone guesses your twist, it means you’ve done an adequate job [of structuring the series].”

While Nolan was the first to applaud the fans’ pretty spot-on theories, he did ask people to stop guessing twists so Westworld can get back on screens as soon as possible.

“You can’t complain when people are that engaged,” he added. “It’s very gratifying — but stop doing it, please.”

Honesly, I think the show might just have run out of steam after season one regardless. I'd have preferred a miniseries with a few questions left unanswered.

I don't believe the reddit claim. The show is pretty clearly worked out on detail beforehand.

Perhaps the Reddheads confused it with STD.

Production on Season 1 was shut down in order to allow the Nolans to work out a multi-season story arc and re-craft existing scripts in order to build to said arc, so I think the rumor mill on Reddit might be getting their streams crossed, as it were.

Ok so is anyone up for writing up a summary of what's going on in WW? I watched season 2, but this is the kind of show where details matter, and I don't think it's worth a full rewatch :)

I find the Reddit story a little hard to believe, just because these kinds of shows are usually written pretty far in advance, so I don't know if they'd really have time to change things because of what people are saying online.

Well yeah, it's bullshit.

The key takeaway I got from Comic-Con panel is that showrunners were 'perhaps' moving to a more simplified streamlined narrative (i.e., no consecutive timelines). Which may not be a bad thing

That kind of surprises me if it's true, because I had assumed the scene at the end of the Season 2 finale with Old William as a Host in the future was a set up for the second timeline we'd follow in Season 3.

Oh, I know that. I just meant that one of the story lines in Season 3 would be following Host William in that far future.

What about that robot in the trailer that looks like some military bot? Is one of them going to merge with it or control it?

Season 2's "coda" and the pacing of the Season finale significantly disappointed me, but I would still like to find an opportunity, if I can, to rewatch both seasons before S3 premieres.

So...I guess it's time to rewatch the first two seasons because I've forgotten so much of what happened (no, nothing to do with it being confusing, just that my memory is garbage).

That's about 6 years later than website data and other in-universe data had placed the series' events for Seasons 1 and 2, so I'm not sure if that means that there's a time-jump between Seasons 2 and 3 or if we just all got the dates wrong.
