HBO/Showtime version of Star Trek

Temis thread on upcoming TV projects got me to thinking. What would an uncensored version of Star Trek look like?

Roddenberry established pretty much that Star Fleet guys were the milk toast members of the galaxy - the proverbial "dudley do rights," but in an uncensored version of Trek how would it be different?

Oh, sure. If you're talking about series such as My Mother the Car or Cop Rock. But better than any Trek series before it? Sorry. There you'd be wrong.

Well, if they have "phase cannons" instead of "phasers", then perhaps they have "shows" instead of "showers".

I think we've found the basis for the NEXT Star Trek series.

There's a difference between the network allowing adult content, and the writers just scribbling in gratuitous nude scenes to add cheap sex appeal. Enterprise was embarrassingly bad in that regard, the Sato topless scene was just pathetic.

I see actual Trek as a network show, family friendly. I'm not sure it can be anything else. If Showtime / HBO did their own take it would probably be a new universe.

I agree. Full frontal would have been the right way to go.

If the network allowed adult content in Star Trek, it would be demonstrated once and for all that there is no adult content in Star Trek.
