Please Note, I've restarted this thread to talk about the possible release of the aforementioned manual...

...Not to begin a rehash of the conversation that closed the previous thread...

Thank you ahead of time.

This is the answer I've received from my first email inquiry to Haynes...

"Dear Sir:

Thank you for your inquiry.
The manual that you are referring to is a potential project originating from our UK office. Please contact: sales@haynes.co.uk for more information regarding its status.
Again, thank you for your interest in Haynes automotive/motorcycle manuals!

Best regards,
Technical Research"

Not much to go on, but at least they didn't say it wasn't coming out...

I've sent off another email.

I'll let ya know again, when I get a reply from this new address.

According to the Haynes UK website, they will be at the London Book Fair in April. I know nothing about this book fair, but the fair's website makes it out to be a big thing. With it happening in Haynes UK's backyard, perhaps this might be the time that they release details on future books, including the Enterprise one?

That being said, if you look at the Haynes press release archive (http://www.haynes.co.uk/Press/haynes_press_archive.htm), you will see that they generate lots of press releases on a regular basis. Additionally, the releases appear to come out right before the book is about to be available - meaning we may not hear about the book coming out until it's almost upon us. So I would suggest that no news does not necessarily mean no book is coming out.

Thanks for the updates. Maybe they will unveil the book or their plans for it or any kind of real news in April.

Maybe this will come out in time for the release of the sequel. I'd be game for that if that turns out to be the case.

There's no more an issue of murky stats here than Franz Joseph faced.

Of course, maybe these folks are more concerned with getting it right than he was. ;)

As much as I've been looking forward to the Haynes book, I'm even more eager for it now that the Okudas are on the project.

Also very, very, very glad to hear even the remote possibility of an Encyclopedia update.

Yeah, great news about Mike and Denise. :techman:

I notice that the guy in charge of licensing for Trek refers to oldTrek as "the alternate timeline." Oops!

I think both "this timeline" and "the alternate timeline" in that quote refer to the Abramsverse. It's a little clunky, but it makes a lot more sense than either referring to TrekPrime. Why would he bother assuring people they were going to publish oldTrek stories if their last move seemed to indicate that was all they were going to publish?

Finally got an answer...

================================================================

Decided to sent off another email... (never hurts to kiss-up a bit...)

Dear Ms Norman,
Thank you very much for your reply to my recent inquiry about the USS ENTERPRISE Manual that Haynes will be publishing.
I'm really excited about your company's new involvement in the Star Trek Universe (a 40 year hobby of mine), and very much looking forward to purchasing this product (probably two) when it becomes available in the fall of this year.
I hope you don't mind, but I've told several of my fellow Trek fans about this exciting news and they have also expressed keen interest and great anticipation of this publication.

Again, I just wish to express my appreciation for your reply,

David B. Dornburg
