HAWAII FIVE-O Sisko's rank error

HAWAII FIVE-O "Na Me'e Laua Na Paio" (Heroes and Villains) episode monday March 21 had a scene at a sci-fi comic convention with a person dressed as stated Commander Sisko. The actor had lines twice mentioning Commander Sisko. I wonder if the costume error was intentional since he was wearing Captain Sisko's (4 rank collar pips) and last uniform type from the final 7th season?

Interesting that character was the only sci-fi/comic book character directly referenced but just I guess that was possible because of the tie in with CBS owning Paramount or something like that.

Yeah, I noticed the error as well. But then my Trekkie rationalization kicked in and recalled Sisko was the commander of DS9 even after his promotion. I also noted they gave Dark Horse Comics a lot of screen time.

I did appreciate the fact that they decided to randomly reference the "least popular" (and perhaps the best) of the Star Trek captains though.

Of course it was intentional...on the part of the writers, who were probably in their bullpen going "When we have this fake geek make this blatant error the real geeks will be talking about it all over the internet! Tee-hee!"

It should have been ignored.

I was surprised as hell they chose to put in a DS9 shout out. Like its been mentioned up thread, arguably the most obscure of the Treks, but it got a decent bit of screen time out of this.

The hyper stupid fanboy element in my brain went "Eee! DS9 On Hawaii 5-0! > Hawaii 5-0 on CBS > CBS owns Trek TV > CBS testing waters for Trek?! >CBS making DS9 Miniseries?!?!?!?!?" but I know that is far from the truth.

Still though, the thought makes me happy :P

Maybe the producers are bigger fans of DS9 than the other Treks? If I were a producer of a show, I know I'd figure out a way to put some of my favorite things into it.

The rank error notwithstanding, I thought the scene was really funny. ("Uhura was a sister... and she answered the phone.")

The episode was also really good in general... I really like how they're advancing the plot with Wo Fat.

It would have been so funny if Steve or Danny replied No, you have 4 pipes therefore you're captain. And then the look from the other. Funny explanation would have then ensued.

Last I read in here was it was likely but haven't seen anything definate.
