From TV.com:

Five-0 must find a young couple on vacation who's been kidnapped by an escaped convict. He's violent and he's looking for his stolen money. In the midst of it all, McGarrett's sister arrives from the mainland.

Lanakila is the name of an area in Hawaii's Big Island. It's a name meaning "Victory or triumph."

Nice of McGarrett to call up the real U.S.S Enterprise

The end with McGarrett and Chin Ho traversing the jungle really reminded me of "Lost" Heck maybe the river stream was where "LOST filmed the river cave.

I wonder if Scott Caan was really injured or off filming something else.

The sister subplot could have been really dropped. Taryn Manning looked like she had some really big capped front teeth.

Nice use of the shirt stand informant again.

This was the first "meh" episode of the series for me. McGarrett's sister made my skin crawl and seemed to be pointless; the whole thing felt just a little too paint-by-numbers. At least the other episodes attempted to make the Hawaiian setting a part of the story. This week's could have been done on pretty much any other cop show.

He really injured his knee.

IIRC she was originally in the pilot and meant to be a series regular.

That was my least favorite of the show so far. Not enough interplay between MacGarret and Danno for me. I enjoy their sparring and action scenes together.

So McGarrett was a SEAL, Naval Intelligence and a pilot, instead of continuing with the superman set of skills they could start introducing reoccurring characters. Who just gives up their aircraft to a friend/relative  who's boss is going to fly it?

The sister under house arrest seemed weird, she was way too old for that act. Either the Feds would hold her or they would release her

Did we not a get a "Book 'em Danno!" line this episode? :(

Decent episode. Could've done without the sister.

No, as close as we got was McGarrett making sure to emphasize Danno we he introduced Williams to his sister.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are alot of them flying around the islands with that paint scheme.

Magnum should show up. It's CBS property so there's shouldn't be that much of a problem if Tom Selleck is willing to do a cameo

I watched an original this weekend, and it ended with a full blown, "Book 'em, Danno - murder one!"

This one didn't work as well for me. I still don't know why Kono is there. Hell, I'm not sure why Kim's character is there. It feels like the other two could just do all the work.

The one thing McGarrett couldn't do I found to be unrealistic. As a NAVY Seal with survival training who lived in Hawaii, he should have known that water contained harmful elements.

I liked this episode although it was definitely the weakest of the four. Not enough Danno although learning about Scott Caan's knee injury explains why. I figured there had to be a personel element with the escaped convict or else his reason for escaping would have been horribly contrived. Also, only on television would you find prisoners who want to play ball with the cops. McGarrett and Danno would hvae been lucky to get out of there alive.

McGarrett actually had a sister on the original show.

Over on TWoP a poster had a theory that is was a McDanno scene but with Danno's real life injury they put Chin in and McGarrett took the Danno lines while Chin Ho took the survival trained Hawaiian raised SEAL line about avoiding the water.

It was alright, although I hope they focus more on Chin Ho and Kono and develop them more as characters.

McGarret/Danno is fantastic, but the other two need some more oomph in them I feel.

So why is Kono on the team other than to be the hot girl? She was brought in to go undercover because they wouldn't recognize her as a cop, but now she's a rookie on an elite squad.

Of course, she can handle herself, as opposed to Dom on NCIS: Los Angeles who was so green he would've been kicked out of ROTC, let alone be on a special ops team.

I think they've only arrested a couple bad guys so far (the original "Boom 'em, Danno" perp in the pilot and Peter Stormare). They've gunned down everyone else. :p
