Having issues installing Windows 7 RC1

^^^^ In simple terms, it's a way to verify the data that you've downloaded as being correct.

As for my error, I haven't gotten any more. This is the original Event Log before the crash:

Faulting application name: iexplore.exe, version: 8.0.7022.0, time stamp: 0x49702a94
Faulting module name: mshtml.dll, version: 8.0.7022.0, time stamp: 0x49705362
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000c4375
Faulting process id: 0xa54
Faulting application start time: 0x01c9d06cfd222f8c
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\System32\mshtml.dll

Since the mshtml.dll file is used for rendering of HTML pages, I suspected that it could be the "compability mode" in IE8 causing this issue, so I disabled it, and so far everything seems to be working fine.

at the time the beta came out, a number of reviews made the comment that IE8 was the weakness. Everything else was stable but the browser.

It's also predicted that IE8 is going to the be the end of the line for that product..

The iso I downloaded is 2,530,975,744 bytes (32-bit).

Is that comparable to everyone elses, or have I got a corrupt/incomplete file?

To check if the iso is correct, compare the md5 of the iso with someone else on here.

This program md5sum.exe will calculate it from your iso. But you'll need someone to compare with.

On the mac, you can run md5 as a unix command from terminal and you don't need any special program.

google it. There are many hits. I think it's safe to say your iso is correct. :)

For reference:

Ok, then that means there's something else wrong with my puter.

My boss just downloaded the iso as well so will see how he goes.
