Have you ever asked anyone famous to marry you?

Cheapjack

Fleet Captain
My neighbour did. He met the actress Paulina Peroshka and was so besotted by her, he asked her to marry him and come and live in his 4 room flat! He could't understand why she wouldn't leave Hollywood and do it! Very egocentric man. One of his past wives was an alchoholic. Very powerful man, too.

That's just weird. Seriously? He couldn't see his inadequacies compared to a Hollywood lifestyle?

That's just... I don't have the words... :wtf:

I have asked (or have been asked by) several famous men, and a couple of infamous ones. Unfortunately this has all been in dreams.

There's a couple of women I'd like to ask. But I have to do the whole 'getting famous' thing first.

Point to ponder: A lot of famous people are also high maintenance, so you'd better have a truckload of money too.

The way he looked at it, the money didn't matter, it was love. But, she wouldn't have had much of a life with him, I would guess. Egotism can be infectious.

I haven't really known a young lady personally who could be qualified as "famous" enough that everybody here would know her.

Your story is interesting, but even if he's a giant, powerful ego I still give him kudos for asking.

He was a very jealous, little man, in fact. He looked like a hyena and acted like one too. He might have been one!

In 1966, when i was ten yrs old i sent a fan letter to William Shatner and asked him to marry me. He sent me an autographed picture of himself but ignored my proposal. :(

I could probably have proposed to Kate, but, you know, there's a lot stopping that from happening.

1. She's straight.
2. You can't marry the same sex in most states.
3. She's 27 years older than me.
4. She's married.
5. I'm not full of crazy.

Seems to me that unless you know and have been dating said famous person, you'd have to be a little nuts to propose to them. The authorities keep files on people like that. They're called "stalkers."

You realise that's Shatner's equivalent of saying "Hello Dave! You're my wife now!", don't you ?

I have never been interested in a famous person enough to want to marry them. Actually I am not all that interested in famous people anyway.

But if I were to ask an actor, I would ask Connor Trinneer. And I would name our first adopted child "Wyatt" after his dad.

And I know that we are not all that famous... at least not outside this board... but I can think of two famous (or infamous) members here I would ask. :bolian: Does that count?

Should i be embarrassed if i were to admit that i don't get the reference?

^ It's from a show called The League of Gentlemen. I think. Never seen it myself. So no, you should not be embarrassed. ;)

As for me: I used to ask a famous person to marry me all the time. 'Course, I was 7, and talking to my Farrah Fawcett poster. Does that count?

Who? I Googled that name (along with alternates like Paula and Peroshkova) and came up with zero relevant results.
