Have you converted yet?

No, but then I'm a bit of a caveman and still haven't bought an HD TV yet(!).

However, even if I had an HD TV, I don't think I'd convert to blu-ray any time soon anyway. To be honest, I find it overrated. Sure, the picture looks nice, but so does DVD, and DVD is good enough for me. There is such a thing as trying too hard, and that's what blu-ray is to me.

I did buy a blu-ray player for my parents last year for Christmas and though they enjoy it I haven't seen anything impressive about it. Just an overpriced DVD player.

I started last year when I got my PS3, it was Star Trek that really pushed me over the top. I've noticed Blue Ray is pretty much the same in cost now and sometimes cheaper and you get better features, so I pretty much don't buy DVD anymore. I've only double dipped once so far, I have a small collection though. All the old movie I always wanted are on Blue Ray for like ten bucks, so I figure why not?

I don't have a TV worth watching Blu-ray on, so I haven't bothered to make the jump yet. There's not a lot out there that would make me want to double-dip, either. The Star Wars movies, the extended Lord of the Rings, and maybe when they finish releasing the James Bond films (I'm guessing that's been held up because of MGM's financial woes?).

Unless I'm mistaken, 20th Century Fox still owns the distribution rights to MGM's home video library.

As for me ... nah, we haven't gone to Blu-ray Disc yet. My wife and I have a three-year-old 720p plasma set that is already beginning to shit bricks, and, quite frankly, our upscaling Sony DVD player makes movies look plenty good. (I know it's not spitting out HD content, but our DVDs look a lot better than standard-definition content does on our set, and that's good enough for us, right now.)

I've been Blu-ray exclusive (not including anything that was released only on DVD) since I got my PS3 last year--just a few months before they announced the slim model for half the price. :brickwall:

Yes i have partially converted to BR, All my Star Trek is in HD from the remastered TV show to all the movies, i also have the Dr who specials, but apart from that i don't buy any other BR discs, as for DVD i do buy the Dr who restoration team DVDs and the odd TV show now and again but i don't buy anything else on DVD.

I converted to Blu-Ray in 2008. I love the format and pretty much only buy movies on Blu-Ray at this point. But due to the extreme dip in pricing I still buy some tv shows on DVD. I have double dipped from DVD to BD on a number of occassions.

No and I'm not going to. I don't see the need and I have hundreds of DVDs already. Stubborn? Damn straight.

I don't buy films so it makes no difference to me about having existing films on DVD, so I just switched over my rental list to all blurays.

No, and I don't plan to anytime in the near future. I rarely buy DVDs any more as is, and the picture quality is satisfactory enough for me.

I have a blu-ray player because it was a good deal when my DVD player broke. I own about 4 blu-rays total, they're too expensive imho; I'd only ever buy something that was particularly visually spectacular in HD. I often rent blu-rays through LoveFilm, as there is no premium over DVDs, but I don't really buy them. I certainly won't be replacing anything I own on DVD with Blu-Ray. No point, as the players can handle both and there's not nearly enough gain to justify the expense.
