Have we ever seen a Romulan/Vulcan stunned in screen Trek (i.e. any of the movies or TV series)?

The reason I ask is
all of the Trek series seem to establish that Starfleet officers mainly shoot on the stun setting (except on DS9, where they shoot to kill against Jemhadar, but I had always thought that was because the Jemhadar had been genetically engineered to resist the stun setting, like the Borg in TNG), unless the enemy is resistant to that lower setting.
Yet, when Kirk and Spock beam over to Nero's ship, their phasers seem to be on the kill setting, except for the one guard they stunned so that Spock could mind meld with him.
Could it be that even a heavy stun setting can only knock out Romulans/Vulcans for a few seconds or minutes? Have we ever seen anyone from these alien races stunned onscreen?
If they could only be knocked out for a minute or less, then I could certainly see why Kirk/Spock would have to shoot to kill - they couldn't risk a Romulan waking up and sounding the alarm. However, if the stun setting could knock out the Romulans for several hours, then...
Someone argued with me while we were re-watching the movie they were shooting on kill to avenge Vulcan's destruction at the hands of these pirates, but that doesn't make sense to me, since when Kirk finally encounters Nero and has a weapon pointed at him, he orders Nero to surrender rather than just firing, as does Spock when he is flying the Jellyfish, rather than just opening fire on the Narada. Even at the point where they get back to the Enterprise, Kirk offers Nero and his crew a chance to live. So, the argument that they would be shooting to kill to avenge Vulcan doesn't seem consistent with what we saw on screen...
Maybe the stun setting doesn't work very well on Romulans? Hmm..."
