Have the TNG movies been withdrawn from the shelves?

Me and my gf recently watched the complete TNG series, from 1-7, and now she wants to see Generations. One problem: It seems to have completely disappeared off of Australian shelves. All the TOS films have been reissued (in crappy, nonspecial editions), but no TNG love. Have they been intentionally withdrawn from circulation? This seems financially suicidal given all the renenewed interest in Trek coming from the movie.

I bought a copy off of eBay but the disc was broken, wouldn't play. I also need the special edition with the RM+BB commentary, regular editions won't do!

Does anyone have any info on this?

Apparently production of all 10 movies on DVD has stopped. The only ones you can easily find now are the recent trilogy release (Star Trek 2, 3, 4) that came out on DVD in May. So your best bet is to probably rent the movies or to look at second hand stores. You could also try and buy them online but many online stores are now selling the Trek movies for MORE than they were charging when the DVDs were just released because they are getting hard to find.

They aren't crappy. By fan demand for the theatrical versions of TMP and ST VI, all six TOS movies have been released, with all-new commentaries. And the new Region 4 TMP-ST VI boxed set comes with a new doco. Also not crappy.

No, they have been allowed to go out-of-print, momentarily, so that old stock gets used up and there is renewed interest in the next batch. Since the new version of ST VI didn't come out singly in Region 4 yet, I assume the next "batch of five" will be ST VI to NEM, and will probably coincide with the release of JJ's movie on DVD.

So Paramount Home Video have been able to have five new DVDs to coincide with the new movie's premiere, and then five more for the DVD release of same.

This seems financially suicidal given all the renenewed interest in Trek coming from the movie.
Sounds like clever marketing to me. The video shops really don't want ten movies coming out at once on the same topic. Two releases, six months apart extends the life of the marketing campaign. The current interest is... TOS, not TNG.

It's impossible for every movie ever made to be kept in print forever. Consumers want new product, or renewed product. Not old stock covered in dust.

Have you tried a DVD rental store? They will have "Generations" for rent, then you can buy it in December.

Not Region 4. We got TMP-VI plus the Whoopi-hosted doco (seven discs total) on DVD and, alternatively, the first five TOS movies singly.

Oh I did not realize where the OP was. Here in Region 1 they only re-released the Trilogy on DVD and the rest of the movies are very hard to find.

I, just recently, purchased the majority of the TNG movies at Best Buy. They still seem to have them in stock and always have all the titles every time I am there. Might just be the area I live in. The one thing I can't find is season 1 of TOS remastered.
