Hasta La Vista, Theme Song...

I totally forgot about the theme when watching T3 and when the end credits came, I was like, "Oh yeah, that. I forgot about that!"

I forgot about it in T3, too. But only because I was deafened by my pounding rage at the craposity unspooling before me. Is T3 really a precedent you wanna' set? ;)

The crane chase? I don't know...awesome destruction, sure. But I can't help being totally frustrated through the whole scene because I'm just slightly confused as to how that magical T-X is remote controlling those cars. Ugh...it's as bad as Beast's gravity defying fur.

It is hard to make out Fidel's theme in Elfman's score, but it is there, in the opening track at time index 1:08, and in many other places throughout the album, he plays it in a different key, faster and sounding flatter than Fidel's, once you identify it it's hard in fact NOT to hear it, and it gets annoying, because of course Elfman never plays it right (and you wish he would).

I hear what you're referring too, but though the timing is similar in beat to the old theme, the tones and notes are totally off. So if that's his or McG's idea of using the theme... it's a pretty shitty cop-out. They took what can be changed; the pacing and timing of the arrangement, and ditched what matters - the notes and tones that actually define the theme.

It's like throwing out the toy and keeping the box.

The one thing that every single true Terminator fan wants.

And what, exactly, makes you think you have the authority to simply decide what a "true fan" is? And who declared you could speak for them?

It's called a generalization. Maybe try looking it up somewhere?

Here's an example for you, just to help you out: TV show called "Everybody Loves Raymond" -- I, for one, hated it. I know a number of people who likewise didn't like it. Yet they called it "everybody" because... it was a gen-er-al-iz-a-tion. It didn't really mean "everybody" in the technical and legal sense of the word.

Sorry if you can't grasp such a basic and fundamental concept. Next time I'll use simpler ones so you can understand.

Nanoprobes and a satellite uplink.

what'd you think of them using a NIN song in the trailer? :p

I know you weren't addressing this question to me, but I thought it was awesome and I'd be elated if they could work it into the movie somehow. Unfortunately, they probably won't, just as they didn't include Smashing Pumpkins "The End Is the Beginning Is the End" in Watchmen despite its awesome use in the trailer.:(

But seriously, between reviving interest in an old song from the Batman & Robin soundtrack for the Watchmen teaser and picking "The Day the World Went Away" for Terminator Salvation, the Warner Bros. trailer dept. deserves major kudos!

"If we stay the course, we are dead! We are all dead!"

That was a perfect song choice, IMO.

Sorry for resurrecting, but I wanted to comment a bit on this after focusing a bit more on the film with the soundtrack.

I have to admit that, when I first saw it that I did miss the familiar terminator theme, but the more attention I pay to it the more I pick up on it in the film itself. For example when they show Marcus with LA in the background they play the tones of the theme in a very slow guitar melody and I think it's perfectly fitting. I'll admit that I really do enjoy this particular soundtrack and I think that it's become my second favorite - my favorite being Bear McCreary with The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
