Takeshi Tsuruno is singing the OP

He is known for his roles as Shin Asuka/Ultraman Dyna in Ultraman Dyna and as the leader of the musical units Shuchishin and Aladdin

We have an former Ultraman singing the theme!

The ED dance preview and stage show fight probably had to be scrapped because of the state of emergency issued a few days before. Not much you can do when there's a pandemic afoot.

Chuumei Watanabe, who did the OST for the very first Sentai series (all the way up to Goggle V) did Zenkaiger's soundtrack. At 95 years old.

Lenne Hardt has been revealed as the voice of the GearTlinger

She's also the lady who did the 'Super Hero Time' bumpers during the Magiranger/Hibiki, Boukenger/Kabuto, Gekiranger/Den-O years.

I loved her flair during the Kabuto/Boukenger Super Hero time announcement

Kiramager episode 38

The duel with Garza was fun, though Yodonna made off with the last stone.

A little more focus on Takamichi and his history. Sad that the King's interference with that Graduel match with Garza made him quit fighting with a sword. Would've loved him way more if he fought with a sword the whole season

Also gotta love that somewhere there's giant color coordinated tooth brushes incase anyone needed to fight a tooth based monster.

No mecha fight either that's refreshing

The backstory with Takamichi and Garuza was interesting, though it was a little disappointing that it turned out to be an illusion; I would've liked to see Garuza given more nuance. The tooth-monster plot was just kind of silly.

I thought at first that Garuza was tricking Takamichi into the Grajuel as a distraction to keep Shiny Breaker out of play so Cavity Jamen couldn't be defeated. Turned out it was just a coincidence.

Hmm, that's right. I didn't think of that.

As for the Zenkaiger trailer, it looks like they're going for humor, as well as going all-out with the homages (the Zenkaigers even use the Gorangers' battle cry, "Gonin sorotte/The five of us together are..."). I'm not enthused, but I'm reminding myself that Junko Komura is writing.

We're going to go to Mushroom world! (Sonic The Hedgehog does not approve)

It would be cool if she ended up becoming a MagiMother type character.

Also I found this video. It's the Kyoryuger(Dino Charge) cast advertising a mobile game and poking fun at all the sentai tropes in the process

One trope they used but didn't highlight (which I learned from Akibaranger): The fighter on screen right always wins.

And of course, the final victory jump was on the iconic curving tree-lined drive at Toei Studios.

Kamen Rider Saber episode 18

Seeing Touma dual wield Saikou was pretty neat, and we finally brought the Yeti arc to a close.

With regard to Daishinji vs Yuri and Touma in the next episode, the official site claims that ever since swords were chosen as the show's motif Toei planned for a serious battle between the swordsmen. So there was no retool for this arc

It also says that these scenes were shot with the intention to make it clear to the audience that Touma and Daishinji don't want to kill each other.

Looks like Mei is growing beyond just being the show's eye candy/cheerleader/ screaming female role.

Kamen Rider Saber episode 18

Seeing Touma dual wield Saikou was pretty neat, and we finally brought the Yeti arc to a close.

It was okay, but I'm a little disappointed that the conflict between Touma and Yuri over saving Yuki was based on a simple miscommunication -- that Yuri meant cutting her down would separate her from the Megiddo rather than killing her.

By the way, Yuki means "snow," and it was right there in the name Shirayuki Yeti. That's a bit on the nose, even for this franchise. But then, maybe that's why the bad guy chose her as the Yeti's host, as a pun on her name.

It looks like they've given up on the effect of having Saikou's shadow be translucent.

The talk about "determination" makes it seem that Rintarou is being maneuvered into wielding the Sword of Darkness, to rival Touma wielding the Sword of Light.

Looks like Mei is growing beyond just being the show's eye candy/cheerleader/ screaming female role.

It was refreshing to see her playing quiet and thoughtful rather than hyper and loud.

There are just too few women in this show, though, especially with Sophia still MIA. Couldn't they have made one of the three main baddies female, as well as one of the Swordsmen?

Should I watch the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers episode before Tommy is introduced before I read the Boom! Studios comics? I haven't watched them since I was a kid.

It's not a bad idea to watch the Green With Evil five-parter that introduces Tommy to the team. It sets up the dynamics in the Boom! comics and it holds up quite well.

I was not aware that on average Beast Morphers on average uses 4 minutes of sentai footage. Normally it's 2 to 6 minutes but four is the average

No surprise that "Boxed In" has the most Sentai footage of the series. Most of the Sentai footage in Beast Morphers is of the Megazord battles, with very little of the ground-level stuff. And the episode that "Boxed In" was mostly adapted from (its opening drew from a separate episode) had a ton of Megazord footage throughout, with the plot focusing on a Megazord fight in a giant boxing ring. Apparently that one took the place in the production schedule of the usual Halloween clip show, a half-recycled episode to save money, but for once they drew all their clips from Go-Busters.

^I just recently discovered the Toei Tokusatu World Official channel, and I really appreciate it. While I'd seen a couple of Kamen Rider episodes (as well as the complete Ryuki series, thanks to the TV Nihon fansubs) before, they also got stuff like Kikaider and Gorenger, as well as one of the shows I had only ever read about without much hope to ever get to see it, Captain Ultra.

Did Tokusatsu World ever manage to subtitle more than the first two episodes of each series?

No. It's is a bit convoluted that Rider's license is now split into so many different licenses

(Shout, TOKU, Toei's own site)

One side is only going to sub maybe the first or second episode(Toei's) and then just move on. The other(Shout) probably has the license but it's just been slow.
