no Jesus regenerates, and returns to EarthNo, I've no reason to. I've been spoilered on the ending... Something like the butler did it, right?Angels ARE NOT fuzzy and warm creatures. Have you never read the bible?

Ah the tacky old Holywood "Hero comes back to life" ending?no Jesus regenerates, and returns to EarthNo, I've no reason to. I've been spoilered on the ending... Something like the butler did it, right?Angels ARE NOT fuzzy and warm creatures. Have you never read the bible?
It was called It's A Terrible Life.I haven't read the whole thread because I don't want to be spoiled for stuff I haven't seen. However, I thought that the "alternative universe" episode (don't know the title) was well thought out. I say this because at the end of the preceeding episode Dean is pretty defeated. I thought it was a clever way to get him back in the fight without an episode of introspection, which is what we looked like we were in for. I've enjoyed this season a great deal, but then I've enjoyed them all a great deal.

I agree with sidious; they hit all the right notes with the final five eppies. Tulin, Thrall, Tulin, Thrall....
Kripke (the shows producer/Creator) has given multiple interviews about how he has planned out a 5 year arc for the show. He has also stated that he wants the show to go out on a good note (Quality wise, not talking happy ending though who knows). And has used shows like Smallville that truly has gone on longer then its intended premise.
He also only has a five year contract. The guys either have a 5 or 6 year contract. Both actors have said they can't see working on the show without Kripke.
But no one has ever said, I absolutely will not work after 5 seasons.
True, but Jensen did say in the EW cover article that the CW would have to back up the Brinks truck to the door filled with money to get him for a sixth, and Jared was pretty emphatic that they want to go out with the audience wanting more, not with the audience thinking they'd done too much. It's not that either of them are arrogant; they're just being honest in that they care about the show's content and that it's hard to be away from their families (in Jensen's case, his sort of fiancée) for 9 months out of the year in Vancouver. Let's face it--Dawn O and the suits aren't going to back up the Brinks truck. They cut the budget for this season, and they haven't increased the budget for next season in spite of the ratings increase. You're right. For some reason, SPN doesn't hit the 18-34 female demo in the Nielsen households, so the CW isn't going to pony up a dime. If it ain't young fans with boobs, the CW doesn't care. It's going to follow that formula into bankruptcy court. In fact, have they cut the budget for next fall? Maybe not cutting it is the CW's sign of "love."
The most zealous of the fangirls would like to go back to the season one formula--don't ask me why. I don't think they can go back. At some point the show became more about the characters than the urban legends. Kripke went with his strengths. I can appreciate that. I'm very leery of them trying to produce the show without him. I hope that Jensen and Jared say "no" to season six. I hope they have the option to say no. If that leaves Dawn O and the CW suits twisting in the wind, too bad.
While I'm against a sixth season for Supernatural one thing I would not mind at least checking out is a spinoff starring Cass and the other angels. I think the character is really cool and could probably carry his own show and I like the take on the angels-as-dicks concept.
And if the suits at the CW are really desperate to find some way to continue Supernatural without Jensen and Jared then aside from idiotic recasting or coming up with unknown Winchesters (which was alluded to in Jump the Shark), Cass and co. would be one way to go.
Well the writers have been put in that position really pretty much every season for what they can do and what they can't just in case the show doesn't get picked up. And usually right near the end tehy get an idea of if its going to happen or not. What can I say? I still fear that a sixth season will be disastrous. You've got to remember, mswood, both of these men actually have a chance at a real career after Supernatural. Tom Welling doesn't. Every year they stay, especially Ackles, the typecasting possibility becomes more and more real. These two men have incredible range. It'd be a shame to see the highlight of their careers be on the CW.
If there's only five seasons and Kripke knows there's only five seasons then he can GO FOR IT. Throw everything into the story and DON'T HOLD BACK. Be shocking. Be dramatic. But.....if there's a season six suddenly granted he'll have to hold back.....don't go for it.....gotta streeeeetch out that story. I don't want that.
I laughed my arse off at all the slash/net posting references. I wondered if the writers were not checking mswood's and dorian's slightly obsessive posts about the show and the boys!!!
