Has anyone heard from or seen AstroSmurf?

I know this is a bit derivative, but some of us are concerned. He lives in Nashville, and the last anyone seems to have heard from him either here or on FaceBook was Sunday, May 2nd. He said his place was surrounded by water. Hoping he's okay and just wondering if anyone who maybe knows him better than I has heard how he's doing.

Hang in there A'Smurf! If I had your address I'd send you some hip waders ... air dropped. ;)

Yeah, he's at least a poster who does disappear because he's busy with real life. Hopefully he's OK. I can't see one way or the other, but I'm hoping this isn't a dramatic change.

I talk with him pretty regularly on FB, and it's strange that he's been offline this long. What with all the flooding in TN and all, just got me a bit concerned. Hoping he has a seat cushion to use as a floatation device. ;)

Hasn't AS been on in the last day or so??? I am sure everything is cool. :)

I remember he said he's on high ground and wasn't worried about getting flooded out. He did say a few days ago that he'd been having problems with the power going out, so I hope it's nothing more complicated than that keeping him from checking in now.

we have some major issues with a some of the electric sub stations though except for two most of them are in a lot better shape by now.
and if his service came through area that flooded they may be taking it down at times to make repairs.

I sent him a message and haven't gotten a response. He hasn't visited ReNext in a few days. Given his situation, it's probably just a power outage or an Internet outage, but I wish there were some way to be sure he's okay.

i do hope he checks in but the worst of the flooding was over by monday night.

and if he has comcast cable internet well they have had their own issues too.

Didn't see anyone mention this, so I'm going to put it up in the interest of assuaging any panic that might be setting in:

I talked to ElmoDukat today. She informed me that her family in Tennessee lives nearby AstroSmurf, and that internet access in the area has been unavailable, or at least spotty (at best) in the past few days.

Now, while AstroSmurf has yet to send a message to either of us, this new revelation seems to point more toward the likelihood that it's just a matter of AstroSmurf not being able to get online for the time being.

Yeah, that was my thinking too.

And thanks 005 for the logical analysis.

Makes sense. It's just that my cousin's wife's family lives in TN and one of her cousins and another friend of their family have died, and I keep hearing how it's so much worse than any of us up north are being shown on TV. Just got me a little (probably overly) concerned.

For those of you not on Facebook: One of AstroSmurf's friends talked to him recently. Here's the message she posted on Facebook.

Just talked to AstroSmurf a little while ago and he has been without power for the last week. He finally got it back yesterday but no internet yet. He's doing fine (although he's been climbing the walls for the last week!) and appreciates everyone asking about him.

^Sounds like me after Hurricane Isabel in 2003- no power, no internet for almost a week. Glad he's okay!

Crikey, no power for a week! I was going spare when we lost power for an afternoon

Good to hear from him, thanks for the update doubleohfive.
