Recently got a subtitled copy of the 11 part drama "Jin" which ran in Japan beginning last October.Based on a manga of the same name, the story is about a Tokyo brain surgeon in 2009, grieving the loss of his fiance, is transported back in time to the same city(Edo) circa 1862.Taken in by a samurai family after using his medical skills to save one of their own.The series offers meditations on the nature of time, self determination and even the butterfly effect as the stranded doctor struggles whether he can or should advance medical knowlege in the hope his fiance might be saved in the future by new techniques developed from his example. And of course, he wants to go home.I'm convinced this award winning drama with it's high production values and affecting performances would and could still find great success if exposed to the western SF community.

Sounds interesting and I've been looking for something new for a while now. I assume we would have to *ahem* "find" this? Is each part about an hour, just wondering for length?

Of the 11 episodes, all are about 45 minutes with the eception of the pilot and finale, which are about 90 minutes. I stumbled across the series at ioffer.com. It's also available at eBay.
