has any tos peple see the new tiller for the new star trek movie

Only very slightly off-topic: Do you think there are many people out there who watch the new Battlestar Galactica and like it so much that they started watching the old series as well? Could we be looking at a similar situation? Paramount at least seems to think that the new film will bring more attention again to previous Star Trek shows, what with the Blu-Ray releases and "Best of" DVD sets...

I don't know if that would have made people watch old BSG. The problem there is BSG didn't have the same positive preception that Trek enjoys. Outside of the die hard fans, BSG was considered corny, a Star Wars rip-off and voted one of the worst sci-fi shows ever in a couple of books.

Which is probably why I loved it. I never seem to go with the popular choices (I liked Trek before it caught on).

Now, Trek is not only a legendary example of good TV sf, the effects have been updated to keep the kids form bitching. It's also being run on TV. And, the Trek movie is not a reboot, it's a look into a changed past. Aside from the show title, some similar ship design and a couple of character names, new BSG is a totally different show than old school BSG. It is a total reimagining.

RE: the original post. jeez, so some people can't type as well as others. There could be a variety of reasons for this, none of which have to be language based. She could have a physical disadvantage or something. Yet, so many folks are so quick to pounce. Cut her a break, she's a fan and signs her posts "love." Whatever happened to not picking on the poster? Sheesh.

I guess nobody will forget TOS for the time being since it's too much part of the global popular culture.
The pre-refit U.S.S. Enterprise, Spock, Kirk, the Vulcan greeting, 'Live long and prosper' or 'Beam me up, Scotty', albeit admittedly corny, are iconic in the truest sense of the word, recognized and loved by too many people, not only by Trekkers/Trekkies. Star Trek 09 - no matter how good or how successful - will not be able to push TOS into oblivion.

Star Trek (TOS ) is my favorite series (#1 for me of the 6 made).

I've seen the new trailer, and I love it - it looks like this will be a good and ENTERTAINING Star Trek film - which is something we haven't had in OUITE a while.

Yes, I've seen it, and I don't think people are going to forget TOS after this May. Don't worry. :)It's English, Chris. But not as we know it.

This board is all over the world..did you ever think that English may be their second language?
Well, I took that into account. (Although, considering the location of the OP, I doubt that it is true.) However, being from Germany I thought I'd be allowed to mock it. :D

Oh I thought Arizona was in Europe!!
It's not often this happens but.... I was feeling bad for the OP, I got the sense that maybe a kid wrote it.......but screw em, I'm German too so let's tag team and mock away......
