has any 1 ever be tie up for fun

OP: Yes, but not nearly enough for my tastes.... ;)

I believe I used the word "crazy." But I really just meant to say "extreme" or "abnormal." Not that there is anything wrong with the people who engage in such practices; they're just doing things outside of the normal box.
FWIW, the common phrase amongst those who practice BDSM and other "extreme" fetishes for what tends to be considered "normal" sex is "vanilla". There's nothing wrong with vanilla...it's tasty and wholesome...but there are plenty of other flavors to enjoy.

Someone I know did something similar... though it went beyond antsy...

He tied his girlfriend in the same way, put a blindfold on her left the room.

He went to the pub. His brother found her and explained that was just his way of saying 'I dont think this is working out...'
Very dangerous...not a safe and sane way for consensual partners to behave. Someone who's restrained should never be left completely unattended, because shit does happen. What if the house caught on fire or the person who left them there got hit by a car?

I thought we all agreed on some form of IDIC?
A philosophical abbreviation more relevant to this discussion would be YKIOK (Your Kink Is OK).

What would you call it if the woman is tied up or otherwise restrained by a Mad Scientist or Hostile Alien and you have to rescue her? Theoretically.
Fantasy roleplay. Enjoy! :techman:

And my counter arguement is, BDSM doesn't have any letters that stand for "submissive".

That's technically incorrect. The BDSM acronym was created by adding B&D, D&S, and S&M together and eliminating the doubles. It is meant to provide an umbrella term for all three.

Sorry, I must not have got that memo. BTW, who wrote the memo? When did they send it out? Did the decision come from the Board, or was it voted on by the Members?

Dont know who wrote it but every group I have been a member of, every conference I have attended has been of the same mindset. Its an amalgamated acronym in the modern sense. It has evolved beyond its original meaning / the everyman understanding. Think about the differences between polamory and pologmy or polyandry. Most folks dont understand that distinction or even what the word means. But yet polyamory is a modern word with a pretty well established definition that allows for a great amount of variety in personal lives.

As for todays helpful hint #47: You can spend outrageous amounts of money on pittyfuly short lengths of silk ropes at your adult novelty store / at specialty web sites or you can make your own on the cheap. Go to your home improvement center or boating store, buy more nylon rope than you'll ever need, wash it several times in the washing machine with liberal amounts of fabric softner and volia, home made silk ropes. Then cut and trim to the desired lengths and bind or cauterize the ends of the cut sections and let the fun begin.

Oh and Kass would have loved this thread.

The members of alt.sex.bondage.

When did they send it out?
1989.

Did the decision come from the Board, or was it voted on by the Members?
Voted on by the members.

Gay leathermen, leatherdykes, dominatrixes, fans of The Story Of O and various other formerly-separate, insular communities were encountering each other for the first time, and wanted a neutral umbrella term that covered all of them equally. BDSM is what they came up with. The many books about BDSM that came out in the 90s picked up the term and spread it. My favorite, by the way, is Screw The Roses, Send Me The Thorns, which is so funny, and so non-threatening, I could almost show it to my mother. And it has a lot of practical, hands-on information.

You asked. :D

Home Depot had very reasonable prices on quarter-inch galvanized steel chain, and they will cut it to measure.

Now if only there was a cheap source for leather.

Oh and if you put eye hooks into your ceiling (re-enforced of course) you can disguise them with hanging plants and draperies.

I can't believe a bunch of trekkies is swopping money saving tips on cheap sex toys. :guffaw:

My suggestion is go to a charity shop and look for second hand silk or chiffon scarves. Less hassle than washing rope, and you can get real silk. (Mmmm)

My contribution to the philosphical debate is that people seem to be focused on what they enjoy. Doing what your partner likes is an incredible turn on. Sometimes tying someone up is just to see how much pleasure you can inflict without them being able to reciprocate.

Nope, never been tied up for fun, but it is one of the things on the evergrowing list of sexual things to do when I manage to get a girl. So expect an update in a decade or so

Was going to private clubs and parties for a decade before that. Around that time (late 80's, early 90's) public clubs and events were being fashionable, and I use do demonstrations. I can guarentee you, the "community" was not representing itself on Usenet in 1989. I don't doubt that a few geeks were on alt.sex.bondage back then discussing such things, but please don't give this mythology any credence.

That's like saying we here on TrekBBS get to define Star Trek.

Are you kidding me. There is a book out there that is entirely about taking everyday household items and turning them into toys. In these rough economic times we have to make those pennies stretch after all :p

That's like saying we here on TrekBBS get to define Star Trek.
But that's exactly the point Marian and I were making. The definition is not as narrow as you you were saying it was. It has expanded to encompass a whole lot more.

No, it isn't. We here on TrekBBS didn't invent the term 'Star Trek'. They on alt.sex.bondage DID invent the acronym 'BDSM'. As the creators of the term, they chose its meaning. We're talking about the term itself, remember.

They created the acronym. That's a fact. They created it by crunching together B&D, D&S, and S&M. That's a fact. They intended it to be an umbrella term for everything they were talking about. These are facts, not opinions, perspectives, or points of view. You said, and I quote, "BDSM doesn't have any letters that stand for 'submissive'". That's factually incorrect.

It's a minor error that didn't have anything to do with the larger point you were making, which is why I started my correction with the word "technically". If you'd simply accepted the correction instead of getting defensive, you'd have a lot less egg on your face right now.

I don't think I will ever look at Home Depot the same again

Also, I wonder how many times the people at Home Depot have been asked to make these "custom cuts"?

more than you imagine and probably 3/4 of the time they have no idea why they are doing it "devil:

I was there this morning, but I only picked up 50 lbs of fertilizer. Now if there is a kink associated with that Im not so sure I wanna know what it is.

I don't have any egg on my face. Look up the wikipedia entry for it, and then get yourself a washcloth.
