Wow. That trailer has one huge freaking spoiler in it. Namely:
Fred Weasley's death.
How the heck did they let that one slip?
It's almost so quick that, I suspect anyway, unless you already knew already what was going on, you wouldn't know precisely who was involved or exactly what was happening to them (though, admittedly, the "happening" is very heavily implied).

Harry saying "I won't let anyone else die for me" over a clip of the Weasley family crying over Fred's dead body. Sure.....nobody is ever going to pick that one up.

Re: HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS, PART 2 (July 2011): News, e

My point is that, based on the clip, it's almost impossible to tell exactly who is lying there on the ground. Unless you've read the books, there's almost no way you can't tell (for certain) whether it's Fred, George, Bill, or another Weasley (Percy, Arthur, etc.). And, as I said, while the event is heavily implied it's by no means made explicit by the very, very brief clip. Put simply, making a big fuss over the incident -- because you know, from reading the books, exactly what it represents -- makes it far more of a spoiler than it otherwise would have been. Take, for example, the trailer for ROTK. There's a shot of Eomer grieving over a blonde-haired person followed by a tagline: "There can be no triumph with out loss." If you've read the book, you know exactly what that shot is referring to. If not, it's somewhat open to interpretation. Same for the DH2 trailer. It's obvious if you've read the books ... but open to interpretation if you're completely spoiler free.

Good to see the Molly/Bellatrix fight. :D

A featurette about the Gringotts break-in, complete with some clips of the movie. I especially like the look of Helena Bonham Carter playing Emma Watson playing Hermione playing Bellatrix.

I got my ticket today for 12:05 AM on July 15th; the multiplex in Charlottetown is running three midnight showings, two of which are already sold out.

Annnnd....

io9 reports that the epilogue has been cut.

I don't really care, as I probably won't see the movie, but good on them.

Honestly, if that's how it's going to be I am going to be pissed. The epilogue is one of the only reasons I'm seeing it, besides it being the last Harry Potter movie.

ETA: Actually the site they got the info from has this to say

UPDATE: It seems the initial reports were wrong and the epilogue did make the final cut. We'll have our thoughts on the sequence when our review hits later in the week.

Re: HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS, PART 2 (July 2011): News, e

I would be very surprised if they cut that scene. As much griping as there was about it when the book was released, I know even more fans would be pissed if the scene was cut from the film. I would be one of them.

We can begin tracking the RT score now; it's currently at 100%, based off only fourteen reviews so far. Mostly British publications (Daily Telegraph, Daily Mail, The Guardian, etc.), but two of the major American ones as well (The Hollywood Reporter and Variety).

My Harry Potter marathon continued last night with "Order of the Phoenix." I am getting so excited for next week!

I'm hoping to catch this next Saturday...assuming I can find a theater that's not packed in Brisbane.

Same here. It was actually one of my favorite scenes in the book (not sure why people disliked it - probably just upset that Rowling wanted to put a full stop on her books, maybe?).

I know it got some bad press because:

...some images that leaked from the epilogue filming didn't exactly show the cast and characters in a good light, but I was under the impression the epilogue was reshot, and we haven't seen images of the new version.

I'm looking forward to seeing DH2 - and in 2D, thank you very much. I got a chuckle the other day reading a news report that, basically, says studios are getting annoyed at people (still a huge number of people) who are choosing the 2D version of films over 3D. Well boo-hoo. Last weekend I showed the 2D version of Avatar on Bluray and the response was unanimous that it was a much better film in 2D. I don't need the distractions of glasses on top of glasses, dry-eye and nausea when I'm spending my last couple hours with Harry & Co.

Then I suppose they'll be annoyed at me when I see The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in 2-D.

It's a damn shame that undesirables like me are getting in the way of their disgusting cash grab.:rommie:

RT now counting 51 positive reviews, 2 negative reviews - 96% at the moment. Starting to look like this will definitely end up somewhere in the 90s.

For the record, the past films:

Philosopher's Stone - 80%
Chamber of Secrets - 83%
Prisoner of Azkaban - 91%
Goblet of Fire - 87%
Order of the Phoenix - 78%
Half-Blood Prince - 83%
Deathly Hallows, Part 1 - 79%

^^
People who haven't read the book shouldn't read that review, though.

Re: HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS, PART 2 (July 2011): News, e

Saw it tonight.

Overall an enjoyable movie. Very emotional moments (Hermellatrix!! Snape!!) with sum fun lines in between (Minerva!!).
Didn't like the way they dragged out the final Showdown with Voldemort and Nagini, and that they changed the location.

Peter Pettigrew's treatment earned a big WTF from me as he wasn't even in the movie although he hadn't been killed at Malfoys mansion in the previous movie.
I mean...what the hell happened to him? Judging from these movies, that treacherous bastard actually survived everything?? As opposed to the book??
What were Yates/Rowling smoking?

As for the 3D:
The Dragon was 3D, as were some effects in Hogwarts and that is pretty much it.
Most of the movie was in 2D, which is bordering on scam if you ask me.
So if your movie theater offers both versions, pick 2D. You'll be happier for it, since you won't be wasting any money.

There is an actual grading and discussion thread with poll here.
