Harlan Ellison COTEF Lawsuit Gains Momentum

For my money, of all the spin-offs and sequels and stuff, Deep Space Nine came the closest to recreating the spirit of TOS.

Your milage may vary.

My mileage is similar, but it's not so much the spirit of TOS that DS9 recaptured, but the mandate of TOS to do storylines that actually had some meat on the bones and tried to challenge the audience to look at, and think about, things in a different way; certainly better than TNG ever did, with a few notable exceptions.

Likewise I was surprised at the love the Destiny fiction trilogy is getting. I guess if you hadn't read much quality fiction? It's good for Star Trek novels, perhaps (and I did read the trilogy), but not what most would call great (or good) prose.

Funny you should mention that one, I just finished reading those and Singular Destiny.

There was a lot of really "ugh, please tell me they didn't just do that" bits in the series.

Singular Destiny took it in a very different direction for Star Trek novels which I generally consider as used for killing time.

Great? no. Better than most where Trek is concerned though.
