Happy Holidays Everyone

And now here it is Christmas morning. It is, under whatever name, the oldest and most universal holiday; it is the one thread that binds together all civilizations, cultures and people from the beginning of time. Therefore it is the best opportunity to wish you all the greatest happiness that life can bring.

We exchanged our gifts last night, so I've got my haul here. I got a new table shaped like a peace sign, a Happy Face teacup, a frog calendar, seasons one and three of Incredible Hulk, new sneakers and a Hickory Farms gift box. My brother gave me a tee shirt that says "Fish Magnet" (more teasing about last Summer's bachelor party fishing trip). And my niece gave me a little figurine of a dove because she felt bad about the baby birds I lost last Spring. :adore:

Merry Christmas!

We had a Chocolate Ripple Yule Log for desert.

If anyone is interested this is what a Chocolate Ripple Yule Log is meant to look like

Mine however had a more 'homemade' look, but it was very delicious.

It looks like more frosting than cake  must be sweet :)

On this occasion, I can think of few clips to provide a more fun wayto say "Merry Christmas"

In Finland we have had for a very, very long time a tradition called "The Declaration of Christmas Peace", that happens every year on the 24th of December.
The first time Christmas Peace was declared from Turku's Old Great Square is thought to have taken place as early as in the 1320's. Since then, the tradition has continued uninterrupted, with only a few exceptions.
Somebody posted this years ceremony to youtube and I though to share it here with you:

I am sorry about the lack of English subtitles..but at least the declaration text is translated on the description of the video.
Merry Christmas once more to everybody!:)

Th thing is that it is cream not frosting. You take a packet of Chocolate Ripple biscuits (cookies) and put whipped cream between them and lay them them down to form the log. Then you cover the outside of the log with cream and refrigerate it for a least 6 hours but I prefer to leave it overnight. The cream soaks into the biscuits giving them a cake-like consistency. The sweetness of the cake depends on how sweet you make the cream.

I don't think that they use cream in the photo I posted. I think they used frosting to make it look good.

It's a mash-up of various personnel from Star Trek pressing various buttons on the Enterprise consoles, to make a basic tun of "Jingle Bells". Nothing gut-busting mind you, but still amusing.

^That sounds absolutely unhealthily delicious. :)

Yes, both unhealthy and delicious.

It is an adaptable recipe. Other biscuits can be used (butternut or ginger biscuits etc) just so long as they can soak up the cream.

One can add different things to the cream such as crush nuts, chopped up glazed cherries, chocolate flakes.

Also the biscuits can be spread on one side with peanut butter or nutella before speading the cream.

I decorated my Christmas cake with Chocolate Royal biscuits, strawberry and cream lollies (candies), and spearmint leaf lollies but if I was making a birthday cake I would decorate it with raspberries if in season, or with chocolate flakes.

We only have Chocolate Ripple cakes at Christmas or on birthdays in my household.

Some people like them so much that they even have Chocolate Ripple wedding cakes though I have never seen one.
