Wow. That was a long time ago . . . .

I saw the movie for the first time at a multiplex in Bellingham, WA. My whole college sf club was making pilgrimages to the theater that weekend. I think I caught at least two showings . . . .

I was 13 at the time. One of my brothers drove us 40 minutes to a theatre that had a 70mm print and Dolby sound. The place was packed. We were in the front row (not by choice) and had to crane our necks up to the screen. I had always been a Trek fan before then watching TOS in syndication, but it all changed that night.

I was in USMC Boot Camp (Parris Island), and didn't see it until mid-August.

I saw it at this beautiful old theatre...

...funnily enough, the same one where I saw William Shatner perform at recently.
