In four months (May 22) I turn 49...just that much closer to 50...

Although I happen to have the same birthday as Sir Laurence Olivier, Richard Wagner, and Paul Winfield (Captain Terrell from ST II). And at least I have my health! So it's all good.

Happy 74th birthday to Tom Sellek :)
And on the very same day Manfred Lehmann was born, the German voice of Gerard Depardieu, Bruce Willis and Kurt Russell. Happy Birthday!
Also, many happy returns to mathematician and phsyicist Daniel Bernoulli, author Anton Tchechow and movie director Ernst Lubitsch who'd turn 319, 159 and 127 respectively today.

Happy birthday to Felix Mendelsson-Bartholdy and Horace Greeley. Both were born only 2 years apart but I think there's hardly been a more different pair. One of them a romantic composer who idolized the past and closed his eyes against the political problems of his time (can't really blame him, though, as the majority did that, back then), the other a political activist who not only coined the famous (or infamous, from the pov of the native population) "go west, young man!" but also fought vehemently against slavery.

I quite coincidentally just found out that today is the birthday of composer Jerry Goldsmith, who scored a number of Star Trek movies, including TMP, and also created the main theme for Voyager.

Today is not only Burt Reynolds' birthday but also that of Thomas Edison and my compatriot Ernst Litfaß, inventor of the advertizing column.
And though born on Feb 22nd in the Gregorian Calendar we use nowadays, in 1732 George Washington's birthplace still used the Julian calendar according to which he'd have been born on Feb. 11th. So here we have the curious case of a celebrity with 2 legal birthdays.

Happy Birthday, @TribbleFeeder .

Yesterday, 10th of February, would have been the birthday of late great Metallica bassist Cliff Burton.

It's officially 'Cliff Burton day' in Alameda County, California.
