Fondest wishes for a healthy and satisfying next rotation!!!

As she won't be seeing this, I'll add my concerns that she will be permitted to again experience the compassionate side of the Tennessee judicial system. Her initial court appearance was put off until October 7 and she remains in the clink as it appears no one is going to post bail for her. I am glad she got the birthday card I sent.

Thank you for the judicial update. We're not derailing this thread with that crap again. Knock it off.

@Schnuffel, I think it’s really inappropriate and of questionable taste to post what seems to be a private photo of Jennifer Lien with what I assume is her child. I guess this was posted on a private Facebook or whatever ten or fifteen years ago (or whenever that was taken), but I don’t think that makes it okay to circulate what obviously seems to be a private photo (of what was then a child, no less) a decade later and without permission. I personally think the right thing to do would be edit your post and delete that image.

Hi, the photo is from 2012 (Mother's Day)
and yes, it is her son in the photo.
I didn't know that this was a problem.
(The photo was taken by Phil Hwang and can be viewed publicly on his Facebook profile.)

Unfortunately, I can't edit my 1st post.
It looks like I don't have the right to do so, or there is no edit button.

Can you remove the picture?

I've forwarded cards to her for many years on her birthdays and the holidays. They contain messages of encouragement, support, and appreciation. Nothing more. I don't track, conduct surveillance, or attempt to contact Ms. Lien otherwise.

If such an empathetic gesture strikes you, and others, as being objectionable and cringeworthy, so be it.

Thanks for letting the photo be edited out. And thanks to @Akiraprise for doing so. :bolian:

To clarify, I didn’t write this in any official board capacity, but just as a regular poster. I know this can be confusing, but I’m not a mod in the Voyager forum.

You posting that photo didn’t break any board rule and there wasn’t any kind of legal problem with it, nor did I want to imply it was any such thing. I personally just think that it’s indecent and inappropriate to post a private photo, especially if (A) the person on that photo has chosen to live a secluded life away from the public eye, (B) the photo includes a minor and (C) it’s completely unnecessary to post that photo. I mean, it’s her birthday — why post a photo of her and her son from Mother’s Day 2012 of all things? Sure, the child’s parent publicly posted that photo to Facebook, but that doesn’t mean it’s morally okay to recirculate it 13 years later.

Just in general I believe we ought to be more careful and respectful with how we treat people’s private information. If Jennifer Lien means that much to you, you’ll appreciate that she’s not a public person anymore (and hasn’t been so for quite a while) and that just because three decades ago she starred in a TV show we liked doesn’t mean we’re entitled to reposting photos of her private moments or discuss what’s going on in her life. If you like her as much as you seem to do, you’ll just let her be. I mean, let’s absolutely celebrate Kes the character or talk about how great Jennifer Lien was as a performer, but this constant urge to dig in a private person’s life feels highly inappropriate and disrespectful.

Well, IMHO, in one breath mentioning that she’s currently incarcerated and that you sent her a greeting card — in a thread just wishing her a happy birthday of all places — is rather creepy. There’s admiring actors/actresses like most people are doing it, and then there’s sending birthday cards to them in prison. Please just be less creepy about this and use common sense.

As a fan of the character Kes and how Jennifer Lien played the character in the series, I would like to add a few things.

I must say that I find the criticizm against Schnuffel and Drone in this thread a bit exaggerated.

OK, the picture may have been a bit "off topic" and dated but, as Schnuffel pointed out, it was a picture from back then of Jennifer and her son which had been posted on Facebook or what it was.

To be honest, I've seen other pictures of Jennifer on this forum which have been much more inappropriate.

As for Drone, what I know he is a fan of Jennifer Lien and the character Kes and has been that foir many years. He has always been fair in his comments about the character and the actress and as he mentions, he has sent Birthday cards and holiday cards to her which proves his honest intents.

As for Jennifer, I stated earlier on this forum that it would be best if she was left alone. But she is and will always be someone who had a role in the series Star Trek Voyager and did a great job there too as I see it.

Therefore, there will always be an interest for the actress as well as for the character and therefore we have to accept that even bad news can occur on this site. I can live with that as long as the comments are cordial and not insulting to the actress.

What we can do is hope that she will get her life in order again and wish her the best of luck.

I just want to clarify that the issue with the picture was not because of its depiction of Jennifer Lien but rather the underage child in it. In light of her ongoing legal issues board staff thought it best to steer clear.

That being said this thread is not the place to discuss posters and mod actions. Please do not continue that line. Birthday well wishes are of course welcome.

Sorry, it wasn't my intention to criticize.
