Happy Birthday Bill!

Iowagirl

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
Today’s Bill Shatner’s Birthday (yes yes, you ALL knew that…) ;)

Aged 78 now, he’s still full of energy, witty as ever, and can look back at more than 50 years in TV business, creating two wonderful, iconic characters.

I’d like to wish Bill all the best, many birthdays to come, and a successful, healthy year ahead with lots of joy and fun, and hopefully some new projects.

I thought you might wanna take the chance and discuss your favorite Bill moments from the very early stuff he did to Denny Crane, or maybe some of you have met him personally and would like to share their close encounters.

I think one of my personal favorits the moment in COTEOF, when Kirk answers Edith Keeler's "Let me help" with "A hundred years or so from now, a famous novelist will write a classic using that theme. He'll recommend those three words, even over 'I love you'" Classic stuff; still gets me teary-eyed...:)

Happy Birthday, you sexy, grey-eyed Canadian. May you have many more...

Too many favorites too mention, Iowagirl! I'll have to think about that one.

Most recently, I enjoyed his character Ozzie the Opossum on Over the Hedge. It's not Sci-Fi, but he is as cute as a bug's ear.

Happy Birthday, Bill ~~ Thanks, for you have done for Star Trek:) and beyond. I just bought Battlestar Galactica, Season Two and it had a preview of William Shatner on a episode of SeaQuest DSV. After looking on the internet, Bill was on one episode of DSV during season one, so I hope to order it from Amazon in the near future. I did find out that JFK NCC1701 appeared in that episode in honor of his time on Star Trek. Happy Birthday, Bill ~~ Still looking forward to seeing him in future films and television events in the coming years.:techman:

Happy Birthday, Mr. Shatner!
Here's to 78 more Shat-tastic years! :D

Happy Birthday, Bill! I remember seeing Shatner at a convention in the late 1980s (or was it early 90s?) in Boston. While onstage, a fan stood up and asked if he could walk up and shake Shatner's hand.

Shatner smiled and said something like, "I think it's better to admire each other from afar. How about I blow you a kiss?" This got a huge laugh from the audience, and afterwards, there were some people in the crowd who could be heard muttering, "That was mean, what an asshole!" etc.

I thought it was funny and, in a way, quite reasonable. There was quite a sizeable crowd there, and, as you can imagine, if Shatner granted one fan the request, the floodgates would have opened... So I think he handled it well, with humor.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Shatner!

(And me. :p)

I think it's pretty spectacular that while he's widely recognized as James T. Kirk, I think his role as Denny Crane will ultimately perhaps be almost as memorable. What a great character, that Denny Crane.

I didn't know today was his birthday :) It's too bad he couldn't celebrate it with a part in the new Star Trek movie :(

Anyways, Happy Birthday Bill!

Happy birthday, you Starfleet Captain, you!
Today was supposed to be my daughter's birthday, too, but she decided to wait a couple of days. Now it's dead center between Shatner's and Nimoy's. Still, it would have been cool for her to share Bill's special day. I tried to get the hospital to change the birth certificate, but they wouldn't.

There is only ONE cool Captain in all of Starfleet past, present and future, the one-and-only James T. Kirk.

Thanks, Shat. It may have been only a gig for you, but many of us were starry-eyed and dreamt of going into space someday after watching you play Kirk.

Happy Birthday and many more.
