Happy 13th Birthday "All Good Things..."

On Monday, May 23rd, 1994 the final episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" "All Good Things..." aired to spectacular ratings!

I specifically remember this date, because 5 days later, I attended a convention in Anaheim, California on the day of Jonathan Frakes and Genie Francis's 6th wedding anniversary (They were married on May 28th, 1988.).

Did you like this episode? I mean it had one of the coolest scenes in TNG's run with Riker commanding the Enterprise D (Which was awesome in design) blasting a hole in a Klingon Battlecruiser doing something no other Trek series has ever tried: Actually go vertical in space. I thought maybe that would raise a few brows. ;)

Are you kidding? "All Good Things..." is my #1 favorite TNG episode. You could not ask for a better way to wrap up this series after 178 episodes. It was a valentine to the fans, and an incredible end to a 7 year journey.

13 years? I remember it well. It was a schorching hot day when I watched the episode with a group of friends. We had the video camera trained on us so that we could watch our reactions (course we didn't know that one of us had sneakily done that until afterwards). I didn't realise at the time quite how much of the end of an era that episode would be for more than one reason for me. :(

13 years ago, huh? I remember watching the show with both anticipation and saddness, knowing my favorite show on TV at that time was ending.

All Good Things is most certainly the best ending of all the five series, and not only that, one of the best two hour episodes in all of Star Trek.

Scottydog, I'm with you. Thirteen years? No, it couldn't be. Are we in some kind of temporal vortex or something?

I thought it was a great episode. I was so glad they got DeLancie to be in it; Q was one of TNG's best characters.

I'm nearly twice as old now as I was when TNG went off. (27 now and the finale was 14 years ago.)

I still think it's the best Trek finale and could have been done as a movie.

It's filled with great character moments, action, and the premise exemplifies the whole idea of TNG - exploring the human condition.

I can't believe it's been 13 years. AGT is probably the best finale I've ever seen for any show and while other shows have gotten close, they haven't moved it down to number 2. This show still has my favorite quote and scene of any Star Trek ever, which I've used as my signature because to me, that is exactly what TNG, and Star Trek has always been about and always should have been about. Recent series seem to loose sight of that, which is sad.

Oh, I have signs turned off. I know the one you mean though.

I just read the script over on TrekCore and got a little sad.

This one. :)

That is the exploration that awaits you... not mapping stars and studying nebula... but charting the unknown possibilities of existence. - Q in All Good Things

I think the best line in the episode was while Picard was shuffling the cards. "I should have done this a long time ago."

What a classic actor Stewart is. That series would have been nothing without him.

I remember it, though it was just over half a lifetime ago for me. I was 12, though at the time I would have certainly told you I was almost 13, jumping up and down when I saw the "A lot of things can happen in 25 years" scene....

We're now more than half-way through those 25 years.

When I look back on this episode now I find it scarcely possible to believe that at the time I was merely 8 years old and still in primary school (and getting excited about the 1994 World Cup!) as now I'm 21, nearing the end of my 3rd year of university and around 6ft3-6ft4!
