Hannibal (TV series)

Fantastic episode tonight... reminded me of The Cell except the section wasn't a horse.

Watch out for the oeuvres next week--DNA might be off!

It occurs to me that the FBI might have a better chance of finding the ripper by tracking down where he's getting those huge deer antler racks. Those things aren't the easiest in the world to get/store/transport.

There are yard sales everywhere...

Now, Graham in trying to get someone else to kill Hannibal, is rather a negative image of what we see in Manhunter, with Dolarhyde passing notes to Hannibal via toilet paper.

Ironically, on SECRETS OF THE DEAD we saw Livingston's note on newsprint made legible pretty much the same way.

"He's so sly, but so am I."

Maybe we will see Tom Noonan cameo.

There was some dialog by Will early in the episode that really skirted around copyright infringement of Silence of the Lambs.

The idea of anyone wanting to sleep with Hannibal is just icky.

I like that they keep "almost" quoting the previous works.

Chuckled at the reference to the census taker too. :)

:( I don't get how he set up that tree display in the middle of a parking lot without being seen, (and how did the forensics team manage to get it inside the building without cutting off the branches first?) AND how did he possibly have enough time to string up the hospital security guard victim without getting caught, in the middle of a freaking working hospital?[/rants]

Otherwise, pretty good episode. I loved how Hannibal was playing at the party with looks of concern about the meat being taken for examination, then winking to telegraph the fact he had assumed that test was coming and had substituted pure beef in the recipes.

To protect their "subject" from weather, painters sometimes tent the work area before starting.

If this is what Hannibal did, when he finished, he didn't even have to remove the tent as he left.

The show barely divulges into how the Chesapeake Ripper actually goes about constructing his crimes - the same can be said for other killers on the show, too. It's a facet the producers sidestep to keep the mystique and allure, I guess.

It was the abandoned parking lot of a former Borders Books?

Yeah, all the "artistic" and time-consuming displays of their kills by Hannibal and pretty much all the serial killers on the show would get them nabbed in about five minutes, but that's just one of those suspend your disbelief type deals in order to keep things original and freaky.

Apparently every serial killer east of the Mississippi and especially in the Baltimore metro area was a Hitler-esque rejected art school student fathered by Quicksilver and Sue Storm.

Instead of 7 seasons and stretching out things like Hannibal on the run for a whole season I wouldn't mind seeing them condensing the stories into 5 seasons with Hannibal on the run for half of season 3 and Red Dragon the rest of the season. Would make things far more exciting and build a stronger audience.
