The bit from Graham Norton Show (June 11) where they have Trek trivia contest and Hanks is 'transported' off couch and back. Earlier in show Hanks says would love to be in future JJ Trek film as "a peaceful Romulan" :rommie:

Doesn't surprise me.

If they wanted him, he'd be more Starfleet material though wouldn't he?

I'm probably the only who wants more Romulans, given they've tried twice now to bring them to the fore, and still can't come up with an angle as interesting as "Balance of Terror" or even Tomalak from TNG. Nero being your basic muscle head, fixated on vengeance without even the slightest grasp of his universe splintering actions.

And for the record, it was, "You mutinous, disloyal, computerized half-breed." He also called him "An elf, with a hyperactive thyroid."

I'm with ya. The Rommies still haven't been developed past cypher status, and Nero was no help. He could have been from any alien species. Give us something about Romulans that we couldn't get from the turtleheads, spoonheads, etc!

I wonder why they didn't try to get Hanks as Pike for JJ's trek? The star-power of having Tom Hanks would have just boosted it further.

He would have made a cool Zefram Cochrane. Also would have looked a bit more like the TOS actor. I can so hear him saying "I don't wanna be a statue!" and such.

Still, James Cromwell did a great job.

If he wanted to, there'd be no way to keep him out of any Trek project he wanted in on. He's Tom Fucking Hanks. He's one of the top A-listers in the world. The studio would never say no to him.

^Well, they would if he asked for too much, but then again if he really wanted to be in a Trek film he may accept a lower pay cheque.

Hanks would have been great as Cochrane. He should only be in a new film if there is an appropiate spot for him. Was he being considered for IV, or was that just Eddie Murphy?

I love Tom Hank! I've watch his movies since I was a little kid. I remember when I watched him in "Turner and Hooch". Lately, I've enjoyed one of the television series that he helped created on HBO called "Big Love". I think he's from Modesto, CA, if I remember correctly, which where I'm currently residing. Nobody wants to be known they're from Modesto, though! [laugh]

Tom Hanks is the kind of talent where I'm pretty sure they could find something for him to do.

I think they should let Nicholas Hoult play a Romulan, too. He's a great actor and I bet it will draw in a crowd of young girls and women. And, plus, he has that natural Romulan/Vulcan look and smart like the real character on the movies just like how these Vulcanoid should be. Hire someone like Tom Hank and Nicholas who undestand how very intelligent people think makes the characters more believable. I think it's great! :rommie::techman:

Years ago I saw Hanks on a program talking about his ST geekiness. He was going on about saltshakers and Feinbergers, evidently knowing some fairly obscure ST stuff.

Kinda disappointed that he's stumped on something basic like an eps title (a two-word title, no less).

Oh well. We all get old, I guess.

^ Yeah, a title is pretty hard to miss, especially something like "I, Mudd" (given how there were two Mudd titles). Anyway, his life has been filled up with plenty of other worthwhile stuff, so it's forgivable. ;)

^I saw that and cringed but thought: it's Tom Hanks. With all the stuff he has to deal with...close enough so happily give him a pass...:)
