Hank Pym was assumed a new costumed identity.

Guy Gardener

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
It's a running gag.

Antman, Giantman, Goliath, Yellow Jacket, back to Antman, back to Goliath, Henry Pym the Scientific Adventurer, back to Yellow Jacket and now...

The Wasp.

Jesus wept!

Dudes a transvestite.

Well wasps can be male or female - although I think he's doing it in honor of his slain wife (ex-wife) so that's cool I guess. Although it does suck that they killed off Janet. Why Marvel? WHY?! First Cap, then MJ and Peter Parker's marriage, now Janet Pym? Why not kill off Namor? Or JJJ?

I'm willing to give it a chance (in Slott's Mighty Avengers). The first time I read the character was in West Coast Avengers when he was "Henry Pym the Scientific Adventurer" and I liked him okay. Haven't liked him so much since, mind you...

I'm now caught up with Secret Invasion. I was sorry to see Janet die. I'm not sure I like the idea of Hank taking over the name "Wasp." It's just going to seem awkward.

All the Marvel characters are dead. It's just that some are still walking around.

"Marvel Zombies" has become a tragic irony.

Does he still have Rover or whatever that talking ship thing was?

Hank is a good man haunted by the one purely vile, rotten thing he ever did (Ultron's creation and hatred of humans seems almost trite by today's 'horrid secret past deed' trend standards), and now someone with his face used his ex-wife's regained trust to destroy her. This assumption does her great honor, and, if/when she does show up again, it'll be good for a real laugh. I mean, how many ways are there for her to come back? How many Spider-clones and Goblins are there?

one thing that anoys me about how he's handled is that he loses his old powers every time he changes his name. I'd ike him alot better if everytime he made a discovery it added to his powers instead of changing them. Just cause he can now change size, doesn't mean he should no longer have his disruptors, cybernetic helmet, Rover, and other Dr. Pym gadgets.

I had the same complaint about the Clint Barton Goliath. After spending so many years at archery, he shoud have just given it up after he started changing his size.

Creating Ultron is not Pym's only crime. He also, beat his wife, created Savation I and set her loose on the Avengers.

I reread the issue with the "beating" recently, and it was reprinted in Secret Invasion Requiem where Hank makes this decision, to start wearing Janet's old costumes.

Beat his wife?

It was one punch.

More of a backhanded slap really.

She's an avenger.

Fights for a living.

If she was doing her job right, fighting crime and saving the world, she should have shit kicked out of her 12 times a day.

He sicced a giant killer robot on the avengers, but it was that little slap they remember him for. not that he was clearly insane at the time or under the mental domination of Kang?

Really, given the level of abuse she should be able to handle being an avenger, she shouldn't have noticed being punched as she starts punching back. Then kicks him in the nuts and then grinds all his fingers to a point with a mechanical pencil sharpener.

It was the 80s and girls weren't allowed to have backbones most of the time.

then again she did get kind of pummeled in the Ultimates too. but in the Ultimates Hank beat her all the time (Though the flyspray was new.), and she kept forgiving him and coming back to the bloke since their marriage begun ten years earlier, but in the Avengers it was just one slap.

Mountain, have you met molehill? You're twins!

(The mountain is Sue Dibney.)

Anyone see what happened to Ultimate Janet in Ultimatum 2?

Okay, what ish of what title did Jan die in? I get New Avengers and Mighty Avengers, and unless I missed an ish, all I'm seeing this month is the aftermath.

This is why I hate multi-title series and Marvel's unending cavalcade of universal crossover "events." I only get a very few comics that I'm interested in anymore, that I enjoyed as a kid (I'm 51 years old fer chrissake), and Marvel is really pissing me off lately.

Something happens in Secret Invasion #7. The entire 8-issue series will be released as a trade paperback or hardback soon. Comic stores will have it first. Sellers like Amazon will have it in Feb. 2009.

Hank has never said that.

In fact they gave him a mind scan a couple issues later to see if he was under some sort of influence, and he's always been incredibly guilty and autoflagilating on the matter.

You may recall that in Mighty Avengers, "Hank" gave her a new version of the growth formula that allowed her to both shrink to Wasp size and grow to giant size. That scene was referenced again in the "How Hank Was Replaced With a Skrull" issue of Mighty Avengers, I forget the issue number. It turned out in Secret Invasion #7 that the Skrulls had turned Janet in to their weapon of last resort. The huge battle in New York was not going well for them once Earth's heroes (and villains) had organised. Once activated, she turned in to a bio-weapon that was killing humans and Skrulls alike. In Secret Invasion #8, Thor was forced to kill her to save everyone else.

From what I've read so far, Hank does not seem to blame Thor at all.

I wish it weren't true....

This is probably most responsible for my not buying comics for the past 6 months - Civil War was pretty much the last straw for me, finally dragging me to the point where I no longer cared to put up with the marketing-driven crap that expected me to buy books I never wanted, just so I could figure out what was going on in the books I buy regularly. So now I'm essentially starting over, because now I have no idea what's going on with any of the books I used to buy.

I'd be just as happy if all they did was publish the art, unmarred by dialogue or captions - that's what I like most in comics, anyway. Give me Adam Hughes, Art Adams, Terry Dodson, Frank Cho and Alan Davis, and I'm happy. :D
