Ham, egg and chips

Ham, egg and chips. It's a yummy idea, it looks good, it tastes great so why do I regret eating it now:(. All I have is a grease lined mouth and a smelly flat. It's just not worth it. What other foods leave a nasty aftertaste?
All you need next is a nasty Scotch egg to generate enough gas to break it all down...

Failing that, try some spam... :klingon:

Me, I wouldn't go near any of that food. Apart from the chips, maybe, but never in isolation.

Aghhh Scotch egg:devil: Another food devious in it's appeal... YUK

Franklin; biscuits  I'm sure you've explained them before but we don't have them over here. Did we decide they were like scones? I don't think it's the buscuits, I think the gravy is the problem:lol:

Well, to be blunt, I don't like eggs in my Scotch, either. A little water or a couple of ice cubes is it. The joys of sharing a common language, eh? ;)

Yeah, here in the good ol' U.S. of A, a biscuit is a kind of quick bread that's like a non-sweet scone, but the texture is less dense and it may be more flaky. It's a southern US tradition. At breakfast time, the typical accompanyment for it would be a seasoned cream gravy with crumbled up bits of U.S.-style breakfast sausage in it.

No, I would not put that gravy on my McVities. ;)

^ An egg in one's whisky and gravy on one's digestives??? It's a good job we have BBS to discover such potential faux pas in our cultural differences LOL

Indeed. Such things go against the very laws of nature, physics and common sense anywhere else in the world.

But then again, this is the TrekBBS, where anything goes.

^^ I knew I'd like it here:)
Lamb with chocolate sauce anyone? It was actually being served at a restaurant in the US, as featured on Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares - no kidding LOL

Ugh! I'll stick with bangers and mash, bubble and squeak, spotted dick, toad in the hole, black pudding, pasties, crisps, jelly babies, or treacle, thank you. ;)

I'm with you there:techman: Bring on the jellied eels, pie mash and liqour with pease pudding and a side order of ladys finger, yorkshire pudding and jam and finish off with a deep fried mars bar:drool:. Oh and don't forget the Haggis, neeps and tates ;)

I happen to enjoy the occasional Scotch egg or two.
Don't get me wrong, I like them, well actually I like about half of one.
It's like sprouts at Christmas. 3 on a plate. 1 to go 'oh I quite like these', 2 'well not that much' and the third is 'that's the last sprout I'm ever going to eat'... Until next Christmas when...:)

Obviously they're quite rare here on the Pacific coast. I only know of a couple of places that serve them regularly and when we dine there I always get a couple as an appetizer. So I only eat them maybe two or three times a year.

I've never tried making them at home, they always seemed a little too labor intensive for the return you get. I suppose if you made them regularly it would be less of a chore though.

In what way are you using the word 'precious'? If it's an affectionate term I like it:). Go on then, shoot me down in flames:lol:
