HALO Movie might be made after all

IESB has learned exclusively (believe me this is solid and I've confirmed it three times over with studio executives and our close ties to CAA) that one of the biggest producers in Hollywood history is currently in active negotiations to develop the feature film adaptation and no it's not Jerry Bruckheimer or Peter Jackson. It's the man behind Jaws, E.T., Indiana Jones and Transformers, Mr. Steven Spielberg.

Spielberg is blown away by writer Stuart Beattie's take on the game in his script entitled HALO THE FALL OF REACH. This coupled with the fact that his Dreamworks umbrella is looking for a big tent pole to help launch their newly independant studio with distribution over at Walt Disney Pictures after losing Transformers to Paramount in the separation, it's the perfect combination.

It's nice that they are thinking about adapting the story from one of the books. Let's hope Michael Bay doesn't get involved as director.

Insert Uwe Boll joke here!

I've seen this story at another forum and... well, just let this thing die already. Halo has begun to out-Call of Duty Call of Duty as most overexposed FPS franchise now.

god, a proper adaptation of the first book in the trilogy series (which is a prequel that takes place before the events of the game) would be epic. The Fall of Reach was much better than the game itself.

Does this mean Peter Jackson is out as exec producer? Well in either case, Speilberg on board is a great thing!

Jackson.. Spielberg.. doesn't matter to me.

Just make the damn thing already!!!

I can't believe they are letting such a sure hit blockbuster lie in development hell. That thing has box office king of the release year written all over it.

I don't know, having Spielberg as an EP might be a bit tough for a director (except for Micheal Bay :p) since Spielberg is a film legend and a director might be temped to kissass to further their career. If Spielberg tries to make the whole story of the Spartan kids real preachy or something, a strong director would at least put up a fight about it instead of buckling almost immediately.

That said, if James Cameron gets involved in this, the film could be epic. It's a shame Neil Bolmkamp won't consider getting involved again after the last time this fell through.
