Halo 4 & Halo Remastered

Jiralhanae. Why did it have to be Jiralhanae?

(...I think I'd rather have the Flood than them. But it's a tossup.)

The last attempt at a movie deal - to be co-produced by 20th Century Fox and Universal Studios - fell apart because Microsoft's terms included almost entire creative control and presented far less risk to Microsoft than for the Hollywood studios. If I recall correctly, there was also concern over Neil Blomkamp as a first-time director on a big budget project, even with Peter Jackson attached as producer.

Just because we think a live-action movie would be a sure-fire financial success doesn't mean that the studios that would be involved in producing the project wouldn't think differently, especially since they have plenty of data to look at that we wouldn't have access to. That said, I do think a movie is inevitable and I wouldn't be surprised if Forward Unto Dawn - with its $10 million budget - represents not just promotion for Halo 4 but Microsoft testing the waters for a theatrical film produced outside the studio system by 343 Industries directly.

"We're either the best-funded Web series of all time, a sort of mid-road healthy TV pilot, or a super-low budget movie," director Stewart Hendler said in an interview.

^ I agree, and this web-series is pretty sweet. Microsoft is definitely putting out some feelers to see how it is received.

What a shock that one of the biggest releases of the year is getting rave reviews from all the industry mags/sites. :p

Lekgolo. That's a Lekgolo (Hunter) that the Chief is staring down there. The Jiralhanae are the Brutes, which humanity doesn't really encounter until much later into the war.

For reference:

Unggoy = Grunts
Sanghelli = Elites
Huragok = Engineers
Kig'Yar = Jackals
San'Shyuum = Prophets

And also, I just watched the last part of Forward Unto Dawn, and fuck me sideways - THAT WAS AMAZING.

D'oh! Well that was a complete ****-up on my part.

I wish we could do the directly-insert-grenade-into-Hunter move in the game but pistol of doom will have to suffice.

That's about the only new release I've bought this year as well. Though I have purchased some older games.

Yeah, yeah... :p

At the very least, I trust the IGN review - not because it's IGN, but because of the person who wrote the review. Ryan McCaffrey was formerly a senior editor at Official Xbox Magazine and was one of the few remaining original staff members when he left a few months back to head up IGN's Xbox channel. I've been reading his articles and reviews, and listening to him on podcasts, for years now, and he wouldn't wrote something that wasn't his honest opinion.
