HALF LIFE 2: EPISODE 3 - first concept art!

Yes, I know I'm making an entire thread based on one concept image - but it's the very first concrete thing we've seen from Ep3, a game for which I'm absolutely starved for details...

So, here it is:

(beware if you're sensitive to spoilers, the below image could be seen as a minor spoiler)

The image is speculated to be in the ruins of the Citadel! ()

Gorgeous ...

So, anybody have ANY more details on what Ep3 will bring? We can imagine a move to northern, arctic environments, and of course we'll be seeing the Borealis, as well as possibly a portal gun - but that's all I'm able to speculate on right now ...

And if you'd like to see how amazing HL2 gameplay can be with the addition of the portal gun, check this out:

it'll be interesting to see how Alyx and Gordon deal with the Advisors
and yeah I can't wait to see the Borealis, and maybe find out what happened to Chell

"First concept art"???

When the hell is this thing coming out?

Well, I should clarify ...

"First *released* concept art"

The game is obviously much further along. But it'll be a while to a release date - and no, we have no idea what it might be. Valve is terrible with release dates. That they didn't show anything from Episode 3 at this year's E3 is telling enough ... hopefully we'll get a trailer by the end of the year ... (unlikely)

I'm still annoyed that I had to purchase HL2E2 to get Portal and TF2. I couldn't care less about Half-Life these days, OpFor was the best of the bunch (granted it wouldn't have been nearly so memorable if it hadn't been preceeded by HL1) and that wasn't even developed by Valve.

^ I enjoyed HL2 well enough on the first play-through, but I didn't give it a moment's thought once I'd finished it and have never been tempted to revisit the game. I've tried to get into Episodes I and II several times now, but they just don't click with me. Now that I think of it, Valve pulled the same shit with HL2 as with the Orange Box, they bundled Counter-Strike: Source with the game and didn't release it as a standalone package till well after HL2's release.

^I started playing Half-Life 2 from the start again the day after I finished it the first time. I've played it through from start to finish at least ten times now.

I love playing Garry's mod because you can do just about anything :D
the stargate mod is a blast! drone launchers, staff weapons, zats, goa'uld hand devices, rings, milkyway gate, Pegasus gate, dhds, irises, asgard shields, wraith culling beam
all the fun stuff :D

I did antlion guards vs striders once :D

the only thing I don't like about GMod is the thruster sound
fffffffffffffffffffffff
c'mon I wanna hear something more like a big freakin' rocket! :D

The amazing thing is the AI. I did resistance vs Combine complete with Striders. The Resistance guys covered their friends with rocket launchers while they reloaded. They were actually working together spontaneously.

Isn't the point of episodic gaming to have them released more frequently? It's been many many months since The Orange Box came out, and were just getting concept art? Get with it Valve!
