Guns N' Roses - Chinese Democracy

Hiya! Been lurking here for 5 years, but finally registered just now. :)

The new Guns N' Roses single, "Chinese Democracy", the title track off of their upcoming album was officially released to radio stations this morning. It will undoubtebly be played a lot throughout the day on several different stations, but it's also available for streaming here: http://www.q1043.com/pages/news/gunsnroses/

I've been waiting for this for so long, and I know there are some other people here who are fans of the new stuff as well. Luckily, the finished song is as fantastic as I had hoped it would be. You all need to hear it. It puts the previous, leaked version to shame!

I'll give it a fair shot.

I've heard about 7 or 8 of the album tracks and most of them have seemed like good songs with way too much extraneous nonsense added to "modernise" the sound.

Axl, is that you?

So weird to hear it without the crowd and everything... can't believe it's actually happening!

Surprised that this is the first single though I was expecting it to be Better.

Eh, it's ok. There is too much noise in it though. Still, I refuse to call this Guns N' Roses. This is Axl Rose and a few other people. Without Slash or Duff or the others, it's not Guns N' Roses.

What I've heard from it so far is mostly "meh." Anything that takes this long to get made is likely to end up being a disappointment. I'll listen to the rest of it, but don't expect much.

Yeah I don't know why they chose Chinese Democracy. It was never the strongest new song they've played. I am very puzzled.

I'm gong to go find a GnR message board, sign up, tell them I've been lurking for years, then post a link to the Star Trek teaser trailer.

They may do better with the followup singles. I'm not much of a G&R fan, particularly after Slash and Izzy Stradlin left (who I thought were the real core of the band's sound), but I'll be the first to acknowledge that AR is a talented, very creative guy, and he should be able to do better than this very dated-sounding blahfest.

I was also disappointed that he wasn't able to keep Buckethead, who is an incredible guitar player.

I quite like the track actually. Its one of the less fussy, more straightforward rockers of the tracks I've heard. Not the best hook ever, but it grows on you.

I hope they've done a radio edit though, all that chatter on the start of the track is ridiculous for a radio single.

^I'm guessing that was just the site, music on demand thing.

Bucket's parts are still on the album though.

Well, the entire album is up on myspace. Its...different. There are a couple a couple really good songs, but its not up to the level of a real GNR album. Some of the songs have a techno type feel to them and the guitarists seem to be trying to emulate Slash. Axl, between Chinese Democracy and a couple so-so Velvet Revolver Albums, you really need to give Slash, Duffy and Izzy a call.

I find it hilarious that this is actually hitting the streets. What I've heard so far isn't very impressive, but then I haven't heard any proper album cuts yet.

Anyway, like some people have said, this isn't really a GnR album anyway so if it ends up sucking, I'm not going to get my panties in a twist over it.
