Guitar songs to learn?

We all have Capos, it's called our Index Fingers! (Being half serious there.)
True enough, and some keys like Cm or B or F# have things going for them you don't get with the capo. But if it's something like Paul Simon's America, in Eb, I'll play it the way he did.

^^

Is a semi-acoustic the same as an acoustic-electric? It makes a LITTLE sound when it's not plugged in, but you can't hear it if you just go into the other room. It has a solid body either way.
Actually no, an acoustic-electric is any kind of normal acoustic guitar with a pickup installed, wheras a semi-acoustic is an electric instrument with a resonating chamber which colors the amplified sound.
But I wonder if your guitar is a "real" Starcaster, which would be a sweet vintage guitar, or one of the completely acceptable beginner guitars they've recently made with the Starcaster name.
Interesting guitar I wasn't aware of:

This is the one I''ve seem kids learning on. Fender does put their name on an introductory electric guitar called a Starcaster. It's a Strat knock-off that's good for beginners who don't want to shell out a lot of bucks to learn on. You can get the guitar and an amp and some accessories for less that $200.

That is the one my nephew got. It seems to be the name Fender, not Squier by the way uses to sell their guitars at the Wal*Marts, Targets and CostCos of the world. Meanwhile the Squier copy of the Fender product is what is sold in the dedicated musical instrument stores. Probably because the non musician parent may feel forced to get a "Fender" for the child. I wonder if Gibson has started something similar with people avoiding Epiphones? However since Lennon played an Epiphone it probably is not as great of a concern.

Hmm around the six month time I forget what I was busy learning.. Most likely the intro solo to Fade to Black and the start of the through the fire and flames solo from what I remember.

Really I recommend learning songs you like more than songs that are difficult for you to play. Difficulty never made me any better, just playing more and more did.

I think that in the 50s and 60s Epiphone were not a budget brand. Gibson basically took them over and started producing guitars with their branding that were as good as their own, as well as pretty similar looking.

Nowadays though they are just a budget version of Gibson.

Mind you, Squier used to be pretty good, my first electric was an early Japanese Squier and it was better then any Mexican branded Fender is now.

Strange. And yet, at least a couple years ago anyway, the Fender acoustics were coming out sounding really good while for a long time they sucked.

No, I guess it's one of the newer-model Starcasters. It only has three knobs, different type of pickups, a white plastic pickguard and a different type of head. For all that though it still sounds pretty nice.
