Guilty Pleasure Songs...

Though, even as Beatles fan, I have to say I like the Earth Wind and Fire version of Got To Get You Into My Life better. (Sacrilege?)

Nah. That and Aerosmith's cover of "Come Together" were really the only good things about that movie. The rest ranged from forgettable to cringeworthy.

I have way too many "guilty pleasure songs". I'm an 80's rocker chick at heart, but I have a tendency of liking some out there songs, well at least they're "out there" to me.

At the moment it's...

Not so much a guilty pleasure song as it is a seriously great song more people should like or even love, but in some quarters loving Weezer is a guilty pleasure sort of a thing. I still know a few people who can't stand them and pretend they don't exist.

Plus, I'm one of the biggest Kevin Smith movie fans I know and this is the closing song from one of this earliest films.

I kind of like Alice Cooper's version of "Because".

I'm about as big a Beatles fan as they make 'em, but a real and honest Beatles fan admits when a cover is better than the original. Alice Cooper, Joe Cocker and other artists recorded masterful covers of Beatles tracks that---yes---vastly outshine the originals. I'd put the Aerosmith version of "Come Together" up against Lennon's original any day with no disrespect whatsoever to John's masterpiece...but Steven Tyler just knocked those lyrics out into space and to me it remains the definitive version.

Normally, I would never admit this to anyone; even under pain of torture (a bit extreme, but true) that I listen to Poker Face by Lady Gaga. I can't stand the woman, I find her disturbing; but that song makes me want to dance.

I like that "Barbie world" song. I have no idea who the group is nor am I inclined to put forth the one-minute effort to discover the answer, but it's a decently catchy song.

The band was called Aqua.

And please excuse me as I go to shower the shame off of myself for knowing that without having to Google it.

^ don't worry, I also immediately knew the name, and I also kinda like the song. :alienblush:

I remember some sketch show doing a bit like an interview with Aqua as if it was three years after that single:

"Well, we're not only a barbie band -we have loads of new and different material."

Cue video of the band playing their new single: I'm a Pogo-stick in a Pogo-world...

Throughout the sketch-show they kept coming back to this band singing about being toys -can of slime is the only other one I remember :guffaw:

With that, let's add The Bangles.
I wouldn't call "Manic Monday" or anything else by the Bangles a guilty pleasure. They were a talented bunch of girls.

If anyone should feel guilty, it's Prince for recycling the tune of "1999" when he wrote that song.
