Yondu really strained my credibility throughout the movie. Why are they taking this wacko so seriously, I kept thinking. The scene when he finally used his arrow shut me up instantly. I actually would like to see more of him now.

I had the same feeling. People follow him, take his orders and everything. We got a little hint at that arrow when they went to the same buyer Quill did, but it was still a bit meh.

Then we saw what he really could do, and yeah..... makes sense everybody simply does what he says or else.

Personally, I thought the fact that he was played by Michael Rooker was explanation enough!

I was mostly thinking 'Wow, Merle looks funny in blue'... ;)

I checked his IMDB, and although I've seen some of his stuff, I think he's more known in the US then global. The Walking Dead seems to be the only huge international thing he did. Other shows he was in that have been aired international were things where he only played in one episode.

So yeah, most people outside the US will kinda go 'who?'.

Maybe so. I'm in Ireland but I've always been in awe of him since Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. He was also a lot of fun in James Gunn's Slither.

Thanos was a bit too easy going - hopefully he gets more involved in future films.
The general assumption at this point is that Thanos is going to be the main villain in Avengers 3, so if he is, I assume he'll be playing a very active role there.

Oh, I know eventually he'll be the main villain in a movie and will have to be very active (though honestly I think it may not happen as soon as Avengers 3), I just hope he gets a little bit more active build up before that happens. There's only so much menace you can get out of a guy sitting in a chair, and he really needs to be built up even before his big movie arrives.

Have yet to see it. Though I'm intrigued by the Star-Lord's father angle I've been hearing elsewhere. It also seems there's a delay in bringing in Thanos in any movies, for some reason. I say this because of two allusions in movies, and he's still not coming out.

Never heard of Guardians of the Galaxy till fans started getting excited over the movie coming out but went to see it based on good reviews. Really enjoyable movie, I'm very much looking forward to the sequel.

I think he's one of those character actors who you've seen in dozen of movies and TV shows over the years so recognise his face, but never remember his name.

At least until now. ;)

Michael Rooker is a well known character actor, I remember seeing him in Cliffhanger and the excellent Outer Limits ep. he did. He normally plays tough guys but he does have comedic to his acting as well.

I was introduced to Michael Rooker with Mallrats. He's also been in most of James Gunn's other films too.
