Looking at the Blu-ray deleted scenes, there's a very short bit with Gamora that I really think should have been kept in the movie; it's a much better introduction to Gamora's turning on Thanos/Ronan than is otherwise in the movie.

Yeah, that's about the only deleted scene that had any real merit, put a bit more complexity in the relationship between Gamora and Nebula too. But, really, all of the deleted scenes made sense on why they were removed, I don't think anything was really lost with their removal.

Yeah, that was implied in the Norton stand-alone movie. He buys oversized stretchy pants.

Yeah, I recall that now, but the pants given to him by the old man before the Battle of NY in The Avengers couldn't possibly fit a behemoth 4 to 5 times Banner's girth. :techman: Much less remain more or less intact.

Yeah, they were oversized pants but not quite THAT oversized. But, really, the Hulk-pants thing is one of those things we have to hand-wave away. There's already a lot we have to accept when it comes to powers and abilities we see presented in these types of movies. "Magically stretchy pants" can just go along with it, I guess.

NUH UH

See, Marvel's so grounded that in the clearly non-cartoony Lego Marvel video game Hulk rips his pants.

Can't be THAT magical, can they?

;)

Picking up on the deleted scenes conversation, I just made a puzzling observation. I haven't read this entire thread as I only got to see the movie when it was released on Blu-ray, so I don't know if it has been mentioned already.

I watched the trailer on a PPV streaming service last night, and saw something odd. During the Nova Corps police lineup, John Reilly's character says " they call themselves the Guardians of the Galaxy", then the 2nd cop says " what a bunch of A-holes..." But that never happened in the movie, as 1) the four had only just met after causing a ruckus in the city, and 2), it was Ronon who mockingly called them that after beating them near the end.
So I'm assuming...they filmed that Reilly scene exclusively for the trailer? :wtf:

Pretty much. The trailer needed to introduce the audience to the characters, you'll note that Drax was in the line-up trailer but not in the actual line-up because they don't meet him until they reach The Kiln, where he's already incarcerated.

I was surprised they included that scene in the movie, since I thought it was exclusively for the trailer. If you think about it, it doesn't make sense.

Not even Zoe Saldana? :wtf:

Perhaps you're not knowing who Warped9 is? ;)
I knew something of who Zoe Seldana was, but fact was it didn't mean anything or impress me at all. I liked her enough in GOTG even though I didn't like her portrayal of nuUhura as whiny and unlikable...to say the least.

That''s funny most of the compaints about her version of Uhura was that she was too bossy and demanding.

Drax! Now I'm laughing, cause it didn't dawn on me that they hadn't met him either. The things you don't notice... and it was staring me right in the face.

Post credits scene-Maybe Drax did look twice.

This movie was excellent. I've seen it three times now. It's truly an instant classic. When I first heard of it I was skeptical, I never would have thought it would have worked. This movie had all elements that could have made a terrible movie, a talking raccoon, a talking tree voiced by Vin Deisel (who I normally don't like), a wrestler, Chris Pratt (normally known as Andy from Parks and Rec.). The only actor that I had any hope for was Zoey Zaldana. I'm so glad this movie turned out to be so much better than I expected and has earned a place in my collection. Other than maybe Days of Futures Past, this is probably my favorite comic book movie as far as the Marvel movies go.

Why is it that you think it doesn't make sense?

It's fairly exposition heavy and in a very brick-to-the-face sort of way and not in a usual, subtle, way exposition should be handled. It also doesn't make *entire* sense that this "line-up" is occurring after their arrest. I'm not sure what purpose it serves to either the Nova Corps or anyone else involved. The scene is literally only there to explain who these people are to the audience, how Rocket came to be and his relationship with Groot, explain Ronan and to lay the ground work for Thanos.

It's kind-of a clumsy scene, really.

Being (arguably) clumsy and not making sense are two different things though. It's not a line-up in the sense that witnesses are identifying them, it's the Nova Corps scanning/processing/cataloging them. Dey gives the straight dope to Saal, who then decides what to do with them.

I bought it for my son for xmas.. Hadn't seen it till we watch it together. Thought it was just okay. My daughter didn't bother nether did my wife.

The only regret I have about the movie is that there was no mention of the Xandarian Worldmind.
