Guardian thought....

Something interesting to ponder...

What if the Prophets were the designers and builders of the Guardian?

It makes a weird sort of sense....

Guardian thought - Gordian knot! (It's too early, my brain isn't working)

Would the Prophets care about time travel? It's all non-linear to them. And, is the Guardian planet anywhere near Bajoran space?

the Prophets had no understanding of linear time and didn't take an active interest in the affairs of other peoples until Sisko showed up. I don't see why they'd have built it.

I don't wanna digress from the topic but the idea that the Prophets are actually future Bajorans who once evolve into their own Gods is not as far fetched as connecting them with the Guardian.

I always thought the Guardian was a living being, not a construct. I know how bizarre that sounds, but this is Trek.

No longer had a sense of linear time because they built the Guardian, long ago, and then created The Celestial Temple to escape their own creation...

Also, the Guardian stands guard to ALL of forever...Including the Celestial Temple

It is both...

Guardian: A Question...a Question. Since before your sun burned hot in space, and before your race was born, I have awaited a Question
Kirk: Who are you?
Guardian: I am the Guardian of Forever
Spock: Are you machine or being?
Guardian: I am both, and I am neither. I am my own Beginning and my own Ending
Spock: I see no reason for your answers to be couched in riddles...
Guardian: I answer only as simply as your level of understanding alows
Spock: Indeed....

nuTrek:

Spock: Indeed...
Guardian: You are James Tiberius Kirk
Kirk: Yes I am.
Guardian: Behold....

The Guardian kind of sounds like God, the beginning and the ending, eternal???? Something to consider????

The Prophets had the ability to reach as far as Earth and orchestrate the conception of Ben Sisko.

I' have wondered if the Prophets did the same for Sisko's entire ancestral tree, all to bring him into existence.

:)

I like the idea of the Prophets escaping the constraints of time (especially the hardships). I also like the idea that they might want it back or want to destroy it forever. There's your new Trek series right there. Two sides - the Pagh wraiths who want to destroy it and the Federation in the middle.

Sorry 'bout that...I was aware but had already hit enter

My bad, and I stand chastised.

Or a TARDIS.

Anyway, I always figured the Guardian was a living being, the last of its race.

And it might be that the good Doctor works for the Prophets, the Guardian, or both...

or neither...

off again into time paradox La-La land

My wife just had a suggestion: If Jim Kirk shows up and asks you to do something, Do it! He's saving the Universe, dadgum it!

:)

The Prophets live outside normal causal time. So as far as we know, some point in their future they will have already created the Guardian eons ago. Just how they didn't seem to know Sisko when they first meet, but later on come to have already created his birth.
