GTA4 Hard disk install v DVD comparison

Haggis and tatties

So for everybody sitting with a 360 waiting for the new update(which is due on the 19th Nov), here is a little video that shows you the difference between a game loading from the DVD, and the same game loading from the HDD which you will be able to do after the new update.....

DVD vs HDD

Marginal increase. But really, the big thing will be the fact that the system would sound like a jet engine anymore.

It's going to take an hour to install a game, apparently. I will probably put some of my hard disk space to good use by installing Oblivion and finally complete that.

^
An hour? Why would it take that long?

And yes, the increase doesn't seem huge. But I think the sum of increases might well make it worthwhile.

I'm certain I read it took an hour somewhere, hopefully it's wrong. It's still going to take up a big chunk of the 11gb I've got left on my 20gb drive.

Yeah that's a killer for everybody sitting with a 20gig version which will make this feature pointless........on a personal note have you considered selling your 20gig on ebay and putting what you make on it towards a 60gig model, that would at least be a min for using this feature.

They are selling the 60GB drive separately. Just not sure if it comes with the transfer cable, since it's meant for Arcade owners.

I'm just annoyed that I got my 360 Pro in May with the 20GB hard disc, only for them to upgrade the 360 Pro to a 60GB hard disc a few months later...

I think Ill keep my 20 GB and not upgrade for a marginal improvement. They only want to get extra money out of me...And they aint gonna get it. Hell I just rent the games and burn them anyway...hahaha

I have considered a 60 or 120gb drive but I have very little use for the space. Their movies service does not interest me since the machine makes too much noise.

I grabbed the 120 because I'm hitting 4 gigs of Rock Band songs... so now I have 88 gigs of space I guess I'll never use except for random DLC.

And yep, the date was announced at the TGS MS press event thing.
