Grey's Anatomy: Song Beneath the Song (AKA The Musical Event)- Spoiler

Re: Grey's Anatomy: Song Beneath the Song (AKA The Musical Event)- Spo

I wasn't looking forward to this episode when my wife told me it was going to be a musical but it turred out better than I expected. There was still too much singing for my taste but it was still way better than any ghost Denny episode.

Re: Grey's Anatomy: Song Beneath the Song (AKA The Musical Event)- Spo

I missed most of this season, but I tuned in for the musical episode. Like someone else said, I thought it was an interesting experiment, but something of a mixed bag. It took me out of the story a bit, and felt a little awkward. I didn't dislike it, but I don't think it worked as well as the Buffy musical (as someone else mentioned), or Glee. I certainly didn't hate it, and I think it's nice to see a show trying to be original and doing something different in its seventh year, rather than just going for the status quo every week--which Grey's still does really well. I'm always sucked in by the medical cases and personal drama whenever I watch.

Wasn't this done, very well, by Scrubs years ago?

Re: Grey's Anatomy: Song Beneath the Song (AKA The Musical Event)- Spo

While I enjoyed it, I wish I'd known more than 2-3 songs. The problem w/musical episodes is that there is a wealth of older songs to pick from-why hash out some obscure tune when you could use a song that FITS the scene better. Glad they didn't have Ellen P singing more-what a definition of "thin and reedy" her voice was! Kidd was a pleasant surprise and I just knew Miranda would sound good. As for Cali-spectacular voice, weak material. Should have given her a little Elton John to play with....

I need to add that Little Grey, aka Lexie Grey, Meredith's half-sister, has been involved. I was surprised at her singing voice.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one thinking about George's ghost...

^ I couldn't help but wonder if T.R. Knight was gonna be a surprise guest star or not. He was my favorite character on the show when i watched it.

Re: Grey's Anatomy: Song Beneath the Song (AKA The Musical Event)- Spo

T.R. Knight was pissed off at the show (the lack of screen time, the character directions that made no sense to him) when he quit. He's not coming back. He refused flashback guest appearances after his character died. Callie's not going to get a tumor and start having sex with her dead ex.

Re: Grey's Anatomy: Song Beneath the Song (AKA The Musical Event)- Spo

I know he left under strained terms, but didn't think it was that bad.

Re: Grey's Anatomy: Song Beneath the Song (AKA The Musical Event)- Spo

^Have you checked his IMDb listing lately? He hasn't done anything since Grey's. Great career move on his part.

Re: Grey's Anatomy: Song Beneath the Song (AKA The Musical Event)- Spo

^I think he's doing theater work now--it might be that that interested him more after the years of long hours on set.

Yeah, last I heard he was starring with Patrick Stewart in "A Life in the Theatre" on Broadway....not too shabby (though apparently it's since closed). I'm sure he's not starved for work.

Re: Grey's Anatomy: Song Beneath the Song (AKA The Musical Event)- Spo

Fair enough. I hadn't considered stage work.
