In the first part of the two hour season finale, Izzie spends time with a fellow cancer patient and contemplates whether or not to undergo a risky surgery, as Mark is ready to take his relationship with Lexie to the next level and a patient makes Owen reassess his place at Seattle Grace.

In the second part of the two hour season finale, George delivers stunning news to Bailey, sending shockwaves throughout the hospital, and Izzie's friends anxiously await her recovery from surgery. Meanwhile Bailey is surprisingly displeased after being accepted into the pediatric fellowship program, and the victim of a near-fatal traffic accident brings the talents of Seattle Grace's doctors together.

There's a lot of hate on this board for the show, and thread activity dropped to the point where the thread-starter who made custom pictures for each episode stopped making threads all together, but it was the finale and a couple characters have apparently gone out with a bang (though for one it was more like a whimper).

I thought mangled-by-bus guy was going to turn out to be Meredith's father until the girl he saved started talking about him. Didn't think it'd turn out to be George (even though he was MIA for most of the episode) because ER already did that plot twist!!!!

So are Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight actually done with the show? Their final scene would imply that.

I'm not sure. I've been scouring the ABC boards for that and the web, and there has been no definite confirmation either way. I need to know... It sounds like "The Best of Both Worlds, Part I," when Patrick Stewart's contract talks apparently stalled...

Heigl could easily leave the show since she has a movie career now. I had no idea who Knight was before the show started and don't know if he even did any work between seasons. So based on that, Knight's probably gone and Heigl will stay.

Heard rumors both ways. Based on how it ended, and potential for future stories, I'd like to see Izzy stay dead, and George come back.

Izzy's story as a doctor seemed to have dead-ended anyway, and this'll give Alex plenty of material to work with. After wasting George for far too long, this gives him a storyline for quite a while as he slowly comes back from this, and plenty of surgeries for the gang...

Plus, Shannon Lucio is hot. Remember her from back in The OC...

Rummor has it T.R. wanted out and that Katherine has signed a new contract. I guess we'll know for sure in the Fall.

I thought both episodes were very good. The wife and I watch every week (guilty pleasure TV). Nice plot twists and nice character moments....

Definite guilty pleasure. And being near Seattle, I look for places I know. I know the two helipads they use onscreen. The one is on the roof of the local ABC affiliate which is right next to the Seattle Center. The second helipad, IIRC, is one at Harborview Medical Center, which is, in RL, a teaching hospital.

I hope they don't lose George and Izzie... :(

I enjoyed the finale, but then I enjoyed most of the season. As for who comes back next season... I'd honestly rather have Izzie back, but then I never cared much for George. The 007 moment (which I got right away) came as a shock though.

And yeah, it was seriously nice to see Shannon Lucio back on TV. I really liked her on The O.C. Looking forward to next season.

And Seattle Grace is like the biggest hospital on the planet since one end is at the Space Needle and the other end is at the Pike Place Market sign, which would make the building about two miles long!

Anyone loved the scene where Izzy goes into the elevater (the scene from the season 2 finale where she goes to see Denny and is all glammed up) only for the doors to open to reveal George in his army uniform?

I thought Goerge looked fantastic in the uniform (with accompanying military style short haircut).

It wasn't the best finale ever i have to be honest.. that belongs to season 2's Denny Duquette/Izzy Stevens which really broke my heart but it was good. A bit sad that we didn't get the Meredith/McDreamy wedding but then we got the Alex/Izzy wedding an episode before which blew me away.

I hope both make it.. i like Izzys smile and personality too much and George has his moments too even if they underused him criminally this season. My best (female) friend is currently in the hospital so she had no chance to see the finale and i so would like to be there when she finds out it's George on that bed :(

Yes i'm a guy and i love Greys Anatomy.. deal with it!

Izzie and George looked surprised to see each other.

If there's dialogue...

"George... Wait... if you're here... How did that happen?!"

"Izzie... what about you?!"

George was given the nickname "007" in season one when one of his patients died and thus he was labeled as having a "license to kill."

Yeah, the 007 bit was mentioned quite a couple of times back in the day. I actually got it before Mer did.

And Alex mentions his "nickname" in the episode when they were all sitting in the cafeteria talking about George.

Sorry for necropost, but it just aired here last wednesday and now have had time to process it a bit.

Wow I loved the finale. The bit with "007" hit me right in the gut at the end. I thought it was going to be the old guy really wanting to die bit when he tried write but, they had me totally fooled. Very great setup and if he does go it's one of the better TV deaths I've seen.

Will be intresting to see who goes and who stays. I think it likelier that George goes since he hasn't really been doing much last season except getting into trauma under Hunt. Either way I'll still watch the show.

Yeah I loved it, he looked great. My mom was in shock trough the entire ending but at that moment she just "Oh my God, George...!"

And yeah a guy here as well. Totally love it, haven't missed an episode EVER. Grey's Anatomy is my hour of the week to be a total girl, have some tea and chocolate and just enjoy.

As for stuff happening overall this season, I really like Hunt. Kevin McKidd is a fantastic actor and he's got an intresting character to work with here. Love the developments with Sloan and Little Grey (also think Chyler Leigh is super cute), overall Sloan gets more awesome as time goes on. I think the Torres/Robbings thing have been fun and intresting thus far and I hope that it stays that way. Really hope Hector Elizondo comes back as Torres' father at some point.

Also more importantly this season is probably the first season I've actually really liked Meredith! Earlier seasons I've found her tolerable but now I really like her a lot.

Looking forward to next season. Especially now that ER's ending as well, Grey's and House will be my only medical shows! Well Scrubs as well but that doesn't quite count.

I'm glad you brought this one back from the dead since I never voted. I gave it above average.

My wife started wondering if it was George when she noticed we hadn't seen him onscreen for a while and then when the 007 came up we both knew right away. I also really liked the elevator scene.

Personally I'd like if they went the unexpected route and brought both Izzie and George back. I just hope that if they keep George they give him a little more to do next year.

I think I read somewhere that Knight was feeling that his character wasn't going anywhere so I find it likely that he's gone. Hope to wrong though, think he was more potential then Izzy. While I like her too I think it might be intresting to let her die.

Too lazy to link back to the article at the moment, but they're officially reporting that T.R. Knight is done with Grey's, and has been released from his contract...
